Two loudspeakers face each other, vibrate in phase, and produce identical 406 Hz tones. A listener walks from one speaker toward

the other at a constant speed and hears the loudness change (loud-soft-loud) at a frequency of 2.86 Hz. The speed of sound is 343 m/s. What is the walking speed

Answer:

1.21 m/s

Explanation:

Given :

2 loudspeakers

F2 - F1 = 2.86 Hz

Speed of sound, V = 343

Fo = frequency when listener is at rest = 406Hz

To obtain the walking speed Vo, speed as observer moves away from speaker ;

Vo = [(F2 - F1) * V] ÷ 2 * Fo

Vo = [2.86 * 343] ÷ (2 * 406)

Vo = 980.98 / 812

Vo = 1.2081034

Vo = 1.21 m/s

In the Boyle’s law experiment, what was used to increase the pressure on the air (gas)?
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

Answer:

Volume.

Explanation:

Boyle’s law experiment :

This is also known as Mariotte's law or in the other words it is also known as Boyle–Mariotte law.

This law tell us about the variation of gas pressure when the volume of the gas changes at the constant temperature.According to this law the abslute pressure is inversely proportional to the volume .

We can say that

P\alpha \dfrac{1}{V}

Where P=Pressure

V=Volume

PV = K

K=Constant

When volume decrease then the pressure of the gas will increase.

That is why the answer is "Volume".

If atmospheric pressure suddenly changes from 1.00 atm to 0.896 atm at 298 k, how much oxygen will be released from 3.30 l of wa
xxMikexx [17]
At a temperature of 298 K, the Henry's law constant is 0.00130 M/atm for oxygen. The solubility of oxygen in water 1.00 atm would be calculated as follows:

S = (H) (Pgas) = 0.00130 M / atm x 0.21 atm = 0.000273 M

At 0.890 atm,
S = (H)(Pgas) = 0.00130 M / atm x 0.1869 atm = 0.00024297 M

If atmospheric pressure would suddenly change from 1.00 atm to 0.890 atm at the same temperature, the amount of oxygen that will be released from 3.30 L of water in an unsealed container would be as follows

3.30 L x (0.000273 mol / L) = 0.0012012 mol

3.30 L x (0.00024297 mol / L) = 0.001069068 mol

0.0012012 mol - 0.001069068 mol = 0.000132 mol

A gull is flying horizontally 10.80 m above the ground at 6.00 m/s. The bird is carrying a clam in its beak and plans to crack t
UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

v_y = 14.55 m/s

Explanation:

given,

height at which gull is flying = 10.80 m

speed of the gull = 6 m/s

acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m/s²

Relative to the seagull, the x-speed is 0,

because the seagull has the same x-speed.

Only the y-speed counts:

v_y^2 = u^2 + 2 g h

v_y^2 = 0^2 + 2 g h

v_y = \sqrt{2gh}

v_y = \sqrt(2\times 9.8 \times 10.8)

v_y = \sqrt(211.68)

v_y = 14.55 m/s

hence, the speed at which the clam smash the rock is v_y = 14.55 m/s

Because of the Coriolis effect, surface ocean currents are deflected to the ________ of their path of motion in the Northern Hem
Mila [183]

Answer:

Right

Explanation:

Because of the Coriolis effect, surface ocean currents are deflected to the Right of their path of motion in the Northern Hemisphere.

Since the Earth is revolving on its axis, flowing air in the Northern Hemisphere are deflected to the right and in the Southern Hemisphere to the left. The consequence of Coriolis is called this deflection.
