Tan(a/2) = sin a / (1 + cos a)
tan(45/2) = sin(45) / (1 + cos(45)) = (1/√2) / (1 + 1/√2) = (1/√2) / (√2 + 1)/√2 = 1/(√2 + 1) = (√2 - 1)
