Answer:

-4.33m/s

Explanation:

Using the law of conservation of momentum

m1u1+m2u2 = (m1+m2)v

m1 and m2 are the masses

u1 and u2 are their respective velocities

v is the final velocity

From the question;

m1 = 4000kg

m2 = 6000kg

u1 = 4m/s

u2 = ?

v =-1m/s

Substitute into the formula and get u2

4000(4)+6000u2 = (4000+6000)(-1)

16000 + 6000u2 = -10000

6000u2 = -10000-16000

6000u2 = -26000

6u2 = -26

u2 = -26/6

u2 = -13/3

u2 = -4.33m/s

Hence the velocity of the truck is -4.33m/s

Why is the Earth generally warmer at the equator than at the poles?
Elenna [48]
Because of the earths curve and temperature. The temperature in an area depends on the amount of the Sun's energy reaching the surface in that area. The equator tilts closer to the sun than the poles do. I hope this helps!

An automobile having a mass of 1,000 kg is driven into a brick wall in a safety test. The bumper behaves like a spring with cons
vlada-n [284]

Answer:

v=2.02\frac{m}{s}

Explanation:

Assuming no energy lost, according to the law of conservation of energy, the kinetic energy of the automobile becomes potential energy after the crash:

K=U\\\frac{mv^2}{2}=\frac{kx^2}{2}

Here m is the automobile's mass, v is the speed of the car before impact, k is the "bumper" constant and x is the compression of the bumper due to the collision. Solving for v:

v=x\sqrt\frac{k}{m}\\v=2.63*10^{-2}m\sqrt{\frac{5.9*10^6\frac{N}{m}}{10^3kg}}\\v=2.02\frac{m}{s}
