Note how going from R to S to T to U has us going counterclockwise. In contrast, going from R' to S' to T' to U' has us going the opposite direction going clockwise. This change in orientation strongly implies that a reflection has been done. Reflections always flip orientation.

-----------------------------------------

Here's how we can find the line of reflection.

Draw a line segment from point R to point R'. Mark the midpoint of the segment as point A

Repeat this process to form a segment from S to S'. Mark the midpoint as point B.

The line of reflection will pass through points A and B. This is because the line of reflection is equally distant between the original point (such as point R) and its reflected point (such as R'). This must mean that the line of reflection goes through the midpoint of segment UU' and also segment TT'.

Refer to the diagram below.

A survey of 70 students from a high school is conducted. From this sample, it is found that 58 students have sent a text message
Irina-Kira [14]
Number of students who have sent a text message only is given by the difference between those that have sent a text message and those that have done both.
i.e. Number of students who has sent a text message only = 58 - 12 = 46

Number of students who have uploaded a selfie only is given by the difference between those that have uploaded a selfie and those that have done both.
i.e. Number of students who have uploaded a selfie only = 21 - 12 = 9

The total number of students surveyed is 70.
Let the number of students who have neither sent a text message nor taken a selfie today  be x, then
46 + 9 + 12 + x = 70
67 + x = 70
x = 70 - 67 = 3

Therefore, 3 students neither sent a text message nor taken a selfie today.

The number of students that have sent a text message or have taken a selfie today is given by the sum of the number of students that have sent a text message and the number of students that have taken a selfie less the number of people that have done both.
i.e. number of students that have sent a text message or have taken a selfie today = 58 + 21 - 12 = 67.

If < A and < B are vertical angles, and < A = 2x - 11 degrees, and < B = x + 7 degrees, find x.
Tema [17]

Answer:

x=18

Step-by-step explanation:

Vertical angles are congruent. This means that they are equal to each other. So, to solve set them equal to each other and isolate x. First, set up the equation. Then, subtract x from both sides. Finally, add 11 to both sides and simplify.

1) 2x-11=x+7

2) x-11=7

3)x=18

Find the first term, a1, of an arithmetic sequence if a12 = 38 and a45 = 170.
snow_lady [41]
Standard formula for arithmetic sequence:
an = a0 + d(n-1)

if we use the two terms given, setting a12 as starting term and a45 as the end term an.

170 = 38 + 33d
170 - 38 = 33d
132 = 33d

132/33 = d
This is the common difference, use it to find the first term.

38 = a0 + (132/33)(12-1)
38 = a0 + (132/33)(11)
38 = a0 + 132/3
38 - 132/3 = a0
38 - 44 = a0
-6 = a0

The starting term is -6
