Answer:

Greenhouse gases absorb some of the energy and trap it in the lower atmosphere. Less heat radiates into space, and Earth is warmer. Many greenhouse gases occur naturally. Carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, and nitrous oxide are naturally present in Earth's atmosphere. Since some of the extra energy from a warmer atmosphere radiates back down to the surface, Earth's surface temperature rises.

Hope this helped! :)

a 5-meter ramp lifts objects to a height of 0.75 meters.What is the mechanical advantage of the ramp?
coldgirl [10]
This is an Engineering question, and the answer is reasonably simple. The mechanical advantage is given by:

MA = \frac{Distance 1}{Distance 2} on a lever or ramp system.

MA = \frac{5}{0.75}

MA = 6.67 (there are no units, as MA is a ratio)

The men's world record for swimming 1500.0 m in a long course pool (as of 2007) is 14 min 34.56 s. At this rate, how many second
vesna_86 [32]

Answer:

It will take 140.76 seconds to swim 0.150 miles.

Explanation:

Distance covered by man by swimming for t time= d

d = 1500.0 miles

t = 14 minutes + 34.56 seconds

1 min = 60 seconds

t = 14 × 60 seconds + 34.56 seconds = 874.56 seconds

Speed of the man while swimming = S = \frac{1500.0 m}{874.56 s}=1.715 m/s

If the man swims 0.150 miles with the same speed ,then the time taken by him be T.

0.150 miles = 0.150 × 1609.34 m = 241.401 m

(1 mile= 1609.34 meters)

S=\frac{Distance}{time}=\frac{241.401 m}{T}

1.715 m/s=\frac{241.401 m}{T}

T = 140.76 seconds

It will take 140.76 seconds to swim 0.150 miles.

After swimming in the ocean for several hours, the swimmers noticed that their fingers appeared to be very wrinkled or shriveled
MatroZZZ [7]
<span>The answer is hypertonic. In osmosis, water molecules move from a hypotonic solution to the hypertonic solution, through a semipermeable membrane. This occurs until both solutions become isotonic relative to each other.  In osmosis, only the movement of water molecules occurs since the ions are large enough to pass through the pores of the semipermeable membrane, in this case, the cell membrane. Due to loss of water in the process of osmosis, the cells in the fingers of the swimmers shrunk hence looked shriveled.</span>
