LCD stands for the least common denominator.
The least common multiple of the denominators can be calculated as follows;
denominators are 2,16 and 8
divide all by 2      2/2 = 1       16/2 = 8        8/2 = 4
Divide by 2                    1        8/2 = 4         4/2 = 2
Divide by 2                    1        4/2 = 2         2/2 = 1
Divide by 2                     1        2/2 = 1           1
multiply - 2x2x2x2 = 16
16 is the least common multiple of 2,16 and 18
\frac{1}{2}  multiply both by 8 - \frac{8}{16}
\frac{3}{16} as it is
\frac{7}{8} multiply both by 2  - \frac{14}{16}
answer is 8/16,3/16,14/16

Solve the system y = -x + 7 and y = 0.5(x - 3)2
amid [387]

Answer:

(5, 2 ) and (- 1, 8 )

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the equations

y = - x + 7 → (1)

y = 0.5(x - 3)²

   = 0.5(x² - 6x + 9)

y    = 0.5x² - 3x + 4.5 → (2)

Substitute y = - x + 7 into (2)

- x + 7 = 0.5x² - 3x + 4.5 ( subtract - x + 7 from both sides )

0 = 0.5x² - 2x - 2.5 ( multiply through by 2 ) , then

x² - 4x - 5 = 0 ← in standard form

(x - 5)(x + 1) = 0 ← in factored form

Equate each factor to zero and solve for x

x - 5 = 0 ⇒ x = 5

x + 1 = 0 ⇒ x = - 1

Substitute these values into (1) for corresponding values of y

x = 5 : y = - 5 + 7 = 2 ⇒ (5, 2 )

x = - 1 : y = -(- 1) + 7 = 1 + 7 = 8 ⇒ (- 1, 8 )

The amount of time it takes to finish a race might be a function of which of the following?
Anna11 [10]
The <u>correct answer</u> is:

C) The distance of the race.

Explanation:

If one variable is written as a function of another, this means there is a relationship between the two variables.

There will be a relationship between the time it takes to finish a race and the distance of the race.  The longer the distance of a race is, the more time it will take to finish it.  Therefore the time can be written as a function of the distance.

I need to answer and explain
nignag [31]

Answer:

parallel

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve both equations for y to make it easier to compare them.

2x - 5y = 0 ↔ 5y = 2x, or y = (5/2)x.

y = (5/2)x - 3

Since the slopes are the same, the two lines are parallel.
