Chemistry

CFC stands for ChloroFluoroCarbon. CFC's are a class of chemical compounds containing only halogenated (often chlorine, fluorine) carbon atoms. They are commonly used in refrigeration, air conditioning and as propellants in aerosol cans. There are many chemical compounds classified as CFCs, one of the most well known is freon, which is used in air conditioners to make the air cool.

However useful CFCs have been, they also have a very negative effect on climate change and the Earths ozone layer when they're released into the environment.

The Earths ozone layer is predominately made up of a chemical called ozone. CFCs react with ozone (O3) turning it into oxygen (O2). This not only thins or depletes our ozone layer but creates weather hot spots as ozone absorbs UV-B radiation coming from the sun. Having less ozone allows more of this high energy radiation to reach the Earths surface. Kind of like a magnifying glass pointed at us.

This is why scientists, governments and companies are actively looking for alternative chemicals to use in place of CFCs. So that we can stop using them and depleting our ozone layer.

hope this helps

What experimental property directly correlates with the strength of the intermolecular forces?
g100num [7]
One experimental property directly related to the strength of intermolecular forces is the boiling point of a substance.

In the liquid state, the intermolecular forces play a large role in the behavior of the substance. If the boiling point is low, this indicates weak forces such as Van der Waal's forces. On the other hand, a high boiling point indicates strong intermolecular forces such as hydrogen bonds.

Molar mass c3h8
maksim [4K]

Answer:

1. 44.11 g

2. 36.03 g

3. 8.08 g

4. 81.7%

5. 18.3%

Explanation:

1. 12.01+12.01+12.01+1.01+1.01+1.01+1.01+1.01+1.01+1.01+1.01=44.11

2. 12.01×3= 36.03

3. 1.01×8= 8.08

4.(36.03/44.11)×100= 81.7%

5. (8.08/44.11)×100= 18.3%

What would indicate that a physical change takes place when copper is drawn into wire?
Lina20 [59]

Any change in which the composition of material does not change that is it retains its identity but changes its state or form is known as a physical change.

The properties of metal to draw them into wires is known as ductility.  When a copper is drawn into wire the only change that occurs is change in its shape and size no change will take place into its composition that is the wires are still possessing the properties of copper metal. Thus, a physical change takes place when copper is drawn into wire.
