How many grams of MgCl2 will be obtained when 435 mL of 0.300 M HCl react with an excess of Mg(OH)2?
Marina CMI [18]
The grams of Mg(OH)2 produced is calculated as below

calculate the moles of HCl produced =molarity xvolume/1000

= 0.3 x 435/1000= 0.1305 moles

write the equation for reaction
Mg(OH)2 +2HCl = MgCl2 + 2H2O

by use of mole ratio between HCl :MgCl2 which is 2 :1 the moles of HCl = 0.1305 x1/2 =0.0653 moles of MgCl2

mass of MgCl2 = moles x molar mass

= 0.0653mol x95 g/mol = 6.204 grams of MgCl2

Provide the reagents necessary to convert (S)-3-methyl-3-phenylpentanoic acid to (5)-3-methyl-3-phenylpentanamine.
8090 [49]

Answer:

1. SOCl2/pyridine

2. NH3

3. LiAlH4

4. H2O

Explanation:

In the conversion of (S)-3-methyl-3-phenylpentanoic acid to (5)-3-methyl-3-phenylpentanamine, SOCl2/pyridine is first added to the (S)-3-methyl-3-phenylpentanoic acid

This is then followed by the addition of NH3 is subsequently added followed by reduction using LiAlH4 which reduces the carbonyl carbon to an alkane. addition of water completes the mechanism and leads to the formation of the product.

The dipole moment of hf is 1.91d. what is the dipole moment of hf in c⋅m? express your answer in coulomb-meters to three signifi
Drupady [299]
6.37x10^-30 coulomb-meters The unit for dipole moments is the Debye which is 1x10^-21 C*m^2/s divided by the speed of light (299792458 m/s). So the conversion factor is 1x10^-21 C*m^2/s / 299792458 m/s = 3.33564095E-30 C*m And converting 1.91 d to Cm gives 1.91 * 3.33564095E-30 C*m = 6.37x10^-30 coulomb-meters
