Answer:

Equation of line l,

3x-4y=1/2

y=3/4x-1/2

we get,

slope of line l =3/4

Equation of line m,

x-5=2y

y=1/2-5/2

Hence slope of line m=1/2

Slope of line l is not equal to slope of line m. Hence the line are not parallel.

Slope of line l* slope of line m ,

(3/4)*(1/2) =3/8

Since the product of slope of line l and the slope of line m is not equal to -1, the lines are not perpendicular.

Hence the lines are neither perpendicular nor parallel..

This table shows the number of miles that Sharon rode her bicycle in six weeks. If the mean number of miles she rode is 30, find
Nastasia [14]
(21 + 34 + x + 25 + 37 + 22) / 6 = 30
(139 + x) / 6 = 30 .....multiply both sides by 6
139 + x = 30 * 6
139 + x = 180
x = 180 - 139
x = 41......so during week 3, she rode her bike 41 miles

The quotient of the opposite of a number squared and three
Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

"The quotient of the opposite of a number squared and 3"

Take "the opposite of a number squared" and call it y.

So you get "The quotient of y and 3"

This is y/3.

Now what is y? "The opposite of a number squared"

Take "The opposite of a number" and call it z.

So y is "z squared"

Replacing y, we get z^2 / 3

But what is z? "The opposite of a number"

Call "a number" x.

The opposite of x is -x.

So z is "-x"

Replacing z, we get (-x)^2 / 3

A metallic sphere is immersed in water in a cylindrical container causing a rise in the level of water by 7.5cm if the cylinder
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

6.51 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the sphere causes the water level in the cylindrical container to rise and thus increase by its own volume, the volume of the sphere is V = 4πr³/3 where r = radius of sphere. The volume rise of the container is thus    V' = πR²h where R = radius of base of cylinder = 7 cm and h = height of water level = 7.5 cm.

Since V = V',

4πr³/3 = πR²h

dividing through by π, we have

4r³/3 = R²h

multiplying both sides by 3/4, we have

r³ = 3R²h/4

taking cube-root of both sides, we have

r = ∛(3R²h/4)

Substituting the values of the variables into the equation, we have

r = ∛(3(7 cm)² × 7.5 cm/4)

r = ∛(3 × 49 cm² × 7.5 cm/4)

r = ∛(1102.5cm³/4)

r = ∛(275.625 cm³)

r = 6.508 cm

r ≅ 6.51 cm to 2 decimal places
