Suppose that events a and b are mutually exclusive with p(a) = ½ and p(b) = ⅓.
irina1246 [14]
No, a & b are not independent if they're mutually exclusive.

Mutually exclusive means the two events cannot occur simultaneously. So if "a" happens "b" cannot. In contrast, two events are independent if the occurrence of one has no effect on the occurrence of the other.

Based on the graphs of f (x) and g(x), what must the domain of (f ⋅ g)(x) be?
bekas [8.4K]

Using the concept of domain, the domain of (f.g)(x) is given by:

{x ∈ ℝ | x ≠ 3}

---------------------

  • The domain of a function is given by all possible input values, that is, <u>on a graph, all values that the x-axis assumes.</u>
  • In the graph, <u>function f assumes all real values.</u>
  • Function g is not defined for x = 3, thus, it's domain is all real values except 3.
  • Thus, the multiplication, as fg(x) = f(x) \times g(x), will also not be defined at x = 3, and the domain of the multiplication is:

{x ∈ ℝ | x ≠ 3}

Angles L and M are supplementary. What is the sum of their measures? The sum of the measures of angles L and M is
Reil [10]
Supplementary angles will always add up to 180. If you had a straight line, and you drew another line across that line, the two angles on either side of that line would add up to 180 because a flat line is equal to 180 degrees.

4x + 2(x + 8) = -19+ x
Likurg_2 [28]

4x + 2(x + 8) = -19 + x

4x + 2x + 16 = -19 + x

6x + 16 = -19 + x

6x + 35 = x

-5x = 35

x = -7
