If 18.0 mL of 0.800 M HCl solution are needed to neutralize 5.00 mL of a household ammonia solution, what is the molar concentra
k0ka [10]

Answer:

  • The molarity of ammonia will be 2.88 M.

Chemical equation

                                      HCl +  NH3 ------> NH4Cl

First of calculate the moles of HCl

mole of HCl = Molarity × Vol (L)

mole of HCl = 0.800× 0.018 = 0.014 mole

As the in balance chemical, moles of HCl and NH3 areequal

so

                        moles of NH3= 0.014

                       Molarity of NH3 = moles ÷ V(L) = 0.014/0.005 =  2.88 M

Result:

  • The molarity of ammonia will be 2.88 M.

Nitric acid is also found in acid rain. Write a word equation for the reaction of iron with nitric acid
Natasha_Volkova [10]

The reaction between iron and nitric acid eventually produces a red-brown rust colour (iron(III) oxide). could link this with corrosion and acid rain

What is the overall equation for this chemical reaction?
Lady bird [3.3K]
We combine the two equations, like we would any mathematical system of equations. After addition of the two equations, we get:
Mg + 2H⁺(aq) + 2e⁻ → Mg⁺²(aq) + H₂(g) + 2e⁻
Cancelling like terms from both sides

Mg + 2H⁺(aq) → Mg⁺²(aq) + H₂(g)

Calculate the energy required to heat 406.0mg of cyclohexane from 33.5°C to 38.9°C . Assume the specific heat capacity of cycloh
N76 [4]

Answer:

Q = 4.056 J

Explanation:

  • Q = mCΔT

∴ m = 406.0 mg = 0.406 g

∴ C = 1.85 J/g.K

∴ T1 = 33.5°C ≅ 306.5 K

∴ T2 = 38.9°C = 311.9 K

⇒ ΔT = 311.9 - 306.5 = 5.4 K

⇒ Q = (0.406 g)(1.85 J/gK)(5.4 K)

⇒ Q = 4.056 J
