An astrophysicist mounts two thin lenses along a single optical axis (the lenses are at right angles to the line connecting them

, and they appear concentric when viewed from either end). The lenses are identical, each with a positive (converging) focal length of 15.2 cm. They are separated by a distance of 40.2 cm. Lens 1 is to the left of Lens 2. In order to evaluate the lens combination as a single optical instrument, the teacher places an object 30.0 cm in front of (to the left of) Lens 1.
Required:
a. What is the final image's distance (in cm) from Lens 2? (Omit any sign that may result from your calculation.)
b. Where is the final image located?
c. What is the overall magnification of the lens pair, considered as a single optical instrument?

Answer:

1 / i + 1 / o = 1 / f     thin lens equations

i = o f / (o - f)   rearranging

Lens 1:   object = 30 cm    f = 15.2 cm

i1 = 30 * 15.2 / (30 - 15.2) = 30.8 cm

o2 = 40.2 - 30/8 = 9.4 cm    distance of image 1 from lens 2

i2 = 9.4 * 15.2 / (9.4 - 15.2) = - 24.6 cm

The final image is 24.6 cm to the left of lens 2

The first image is inverted

The second image is erect (as seen from the first image)

So the final image is inverted

M = m1 * m2 = (-30.8 / 30) * (24.6 / 9.4) = -2.69

Recall the topography of the Sierra Nevada Mountains east of California's central valley. Which of the following locations would
marysya [2.9K]

Answer:

3. western slope

Explanation:

If we investigate the physical features (such as natural and artificial features) of the Sierra Nevada Mountains located at the California's central valley eastern part, the western slope has the highest value of the precipitation level yearly. This is due to the location of the slope and the relevant conditions such as temperature and humidity.

Ilia_Sergeevich [38]

Answer: F = 776.18N θ = 29.41°

Question:

The magnitude of the resultant force is to be 200 N, directed along the positive y-axis. Determine the magnitude of the force F Find the angle θ.

Attached is the image.

Explanation:

To solve this question we need to resolve the forces to the x and y axis.

For the x axis;

Fcosθ = 700cos15....1

For the y axis;

200 = Fsinθ - 700sin15

Fsinθ = 200 + 700sin15 ...2

Dividing equation 2 by 1

Fsinθ/Fcosθ = (200 + 700sin15)/700cos15

Tanθ = (200 + 700sin15)/700cos15

θ = Taninverse(200 + 700sin15)/700cos15)

θ = 29.41°

From equation 1;

F = 700cos15/cosθ

F = 700cos15/cos29.41

F = 776.18N

Cecelia dropped a ball from a height of 2 m. The ball fell in a straight path down to the ground
trapecia [35]

The correct answer to the question is : A) Tossing it horizontally at a faster speed.

EXPLANATION:

Before going to answer this question, first we have to know the horizontal distance covered by any body when it is fired parallel to the ground.

Let us consider a body of mass m is fired with velocity u parallel to the ground. Let it was projected at a height h from the ground.

Hence, the horizontal distance covered by the projectile is calculated as -

                    Horizontal distance R = u\times \sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}}.

Here, g is known as the acceleration due to gravity.

From above, we see that more is the initial velocity, the more is the horizontal distance covered by it i.e the more is the widest curved path.

Hence, the correct answer to the question is that tossing a ball horizontally at a faster speed will trace out the widest curved path.
