Answer:

5 9/20

Step-by-step explanation:

4 7/10 + 6/8

Simplify the fractions by dividing the second top and bottom  by 2

4 7/10 + 3/4

Getting a common denominator of 20

4 7/10 *2/2  + 3/4 * 5/5

4 14/20  + 15/20

4 29/20

4 + 20/20 + 9/20

4+1+9/20

5 9/20

First, you have to find the common denominator.

It is 40.

But if we change the denominator, you have to change the numerator as well.

We multiplied 10 by 4 to get to 40, so we multiply 7 by 4.

\frac{28}{40}

We multiplied 8 by 5 to get to 40, so we do the same to 6:

\frac{30}{40}

Now add them:

\frac{28}{40} +\frac{30}{40}

We get:

58/40

1+18/40 is my answer...

Question a

g(x) times \sqrt{x-5}=\sqrt{x^2-5}
divide both sides by √(x-5)
g(x)=\frac{\sqrt{x^2-5}}{\sqrt{x-5}}
g(x)=\frac{(\sqrt{x-5})(\sqrt{x^2-5})}{x-5}
g(x)=\frac{\sqrt{x^3-5x^2-5x+25}}{x-5}

question b
g(x) \space\ times \space\ 1+\frac{1}{x}=x
divide both sides by 1+1/x
g(x)=\frac{x}{1+\frac{1}{x}}
times by x/x
g(x)=\frac{x^2}{x+1}

question c
\frac{1}{x} \space\ times \space\ f(x)=x
times both sides by x
f(x)=x^2

question d
the (f*g)(x) collumn seems to have a domain of only x is greater than or equal to 0?
so maybe we squared the whole thing, ya
wait
ah, ya
basically
|x|=(\sqrt{x})^2=(\sqrt{x})(\sqrt{x})
so f(x)=√x

a. g(x)=\frac{\sqrt{x^3-5x^2-5x+25}}{x-5}
b. g(x)=\frac{x^2}{x+1}
c.f(x)=x^2
d. f(x)=\sqrt{x}

1) A ball is dropped from a height of 50 feet. How long after it is dropped will it reach a height of 18 feet?
Nookie1986 [14]

Answer: 1.41 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

The problem gives the initial velocity by saying "dropped." This indicates a velocity of zero. Acceleration can also be found because the object is in free fall. It would experience the acceleration of gravity. We can use the kinematic equation:

(y_f-y_i)=V_it+\frac{1}{2}at^2

The velocity term completely cancels because the object was dropped with an initial velocity of 0.

(18-50)=\frac{1}{2} (32.17)t^2\\

-32=-16.085t^2\\t=\sqrt{1.989} =1.41s

A company sells widgets. The amount of profit, y, made by the company, is related to the selling price of each widget, x, by the
kvv77 [185]

Answer: the widget would be sold for $84.3

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount of profit, y made by the company, is related to the selling price of each widget, x, by the given equation which is expressed as

y = - x² + 77x - 615

At the point of breaking even, profit = 0. This means that

- x² + 77x - 615 = 0

The general formula for solving quadratic equations is expressed as

x = [- b ± √(b² - 4ac)]/2a

From the equation given,

a = - 1

b = 77

c = - 615

Therefore,

x = [- 77 ± √(77² - 4 × - 1 × - 615)]/2 × + 1

x = [- 77 ± √(8389)]/- 2

x = (- 77 + 91.59)/2 or x = (- 77 - 91.59)/- 2

x = - 7.295 or x = 84.3

Since the price cannot be negative, then x = $84.3
