3/4x + 3 -2x = -1/4 + 1/2x + 5

Combine like terms:

-1 1/4x + 3 = 1/2x + 4 3/4

Subtract 3 from both sides:

-1 1/4x = 1/2x + 1 3/4

Subtract 1/x from both sides

-1 3/4x = 1 3/4

Divide both sides by-1 3/4

X = -1
