Theory

Sea floor spreading

Subduction

Magnetic reversal

Convection current

Explanation:

A system of ideas that explains many related observations and is supported by a large body of evidence acquired through scientific investigation

_____Theory___ - The process by which new oceanic lithosphere (sea floor) forms when magma rises to earth’s surface at mid-ocean ridges and solidifies, as older, existing sea floor moves away from the ridge

____Sea floor spreading___ - The process by which one lithosphere plate moves beneath another plate as a result of tectonic forces

__Subduction _ - The process by which earth’s magnetic north pole and magnetic south pole switch positions periodically, a change in the direction in which earth’s magnetic field points.

____Magnetic reversal _ - Any movement of matter that results from differences in density may e vertical circular or cyclical.___ Convection current___.

A theory is scientific postulates that explains a particular observation. Theories are products of careful scientific investigations that are made from a single hypothesis. They result from hypothesis that has been well tested, repeated and has been subjected to rigorous experimentation by other scientists.

At the divergent margin, the sea floor is spreading. This idea was brought into light around the mid twentieth century. New tools from the second world war were used to investigate the sea floor.

Records shows that as new magma upwells to the the surface, the older ones are forced back away from the margin. Younger rocks are found close to the margin whereas the old ones are far away from the margin.

Subduction occurs when a denser oceanic plate forces its way downward into the mantle because it is denser. The lighter plate either oceanic or continental rides on top of it. The region where this convergent type of plate motion occurs is called a subduction zone.

The geomagnetic field of the earth is produced as a result of the movement of metallic minerals in the outer molten core. This produces the earth magnetic field that approximately has its north and south pole close to the geographic one. Sometimes the magnetic direction changes and it reverses. The N-S orientation alternates and this leads to a magnetic reversal.

Convection current is used to transfer energy especially heat based on the differences in density. This is usually between fluids i.e gas and water. The denser materials sinks and the light ones floats. The difference in density is attributed to temperature differences.

Which of the following item(s) explain the differences between the Ka values. Choose one or more: A. The oxidation state for oxy
Allisa [31]

Answer:

C. The electron-withdrawing fluorine atoms pull electron density from the oxygen in trifluoroacetate. The negative charge is more stabilized in trifluoroacetate by this effect.

Explanation:

The structures of trifluoroacetate and acetic acid are both shown in the image attached.

The trifluoroacetate anion (CF3CO2-), just like the acetate anion has in the middle, two oxygen atoms.

However, in the trifluoroacetate anion, there are also three electronegative fluorine atoms attached to the nearby carbon atom attached to the carbonyl, and these pull some electron density through the sigma bonding network away from the oxygen atoms, thereby spreading out the negative charge further. This effect, called the "inductive effect" stabilizes the anion formed, the trifouoroacetate anion is thus more stabilized than the acetate anion.

Hence, trifluoroacetic acid is a stronger acid than acetic acid, having a pKa of -0.18.

Express the equilibrium constant for the combustion of propane in the balanced chemical equation c3h8(g)+5o2(g)???3co2(g)+4h2o(g
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]
According to the balanced equation:
C3H8(g) + 5O2(g) ↔ 3CO2(g) + 4 H2O (g)
      aA + bB ↔ cC + dD

according to K formula when:
K = concentration of the products / concentration of the reactants

   K = [C]^c[D]^d / [A]^a[B]^b
when [A],[B],[C]and[D] is the concentrations
and a,b,c and d is the no of moles
∴ K = [CO2]^3[H2O]^4 / [C3H8] [ O2]^5
