Divide it into 1 rectangle and 3 triangles.

Rectangle : 3 x 8 = 24

Triangle 1: 1/2 x 8 x 2 = 8

Triangle 2: 1/2 x 4x3 = 6

Triangle 3: 1/2 x 4x3= 6

Total area = 24 + 8 + 6 + 6 = 44 square units.
