How does floating ice affect you in the world you live in?
PLZ EXPLAIN
Sholpan [36]

Water is one of the few substances which expand in volume when frozen, compared to liquid. Usually substances condense when cooled, but at the point of freezing, when liquid water becomes solid ice, the molecules lock into a matrix in which there is more space between molecules - ice expands! This is why ice floats on liquid water.

It is this miracle which has shaped the planet and allowed life to thrive. Expansion of ice is responsible for much land-shaping erosion on land, the heaving off of boulders from mountain tops. And the floating of ice on lakes, rivers and oceans - if the frozen water was indeed more dense than liquid water, it would sink and pile up in the cold depths. There would be no life thriving under the ice, overwintering. It would all eventually freeze solid, and all the life forms with it.

The reaction of an arrhenius acid with an arrhenius base produces water and
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer: salt

Explanation:

Arrhenius acids are substances which dissociate in water to give H^+ ions.

HCl\rightarrow H^++Cl^-

Arrhenius bases are substances which dissociate in water to give OH^- ions.

NaOH\rightarrow Na^++OH^-

Thus when they combine, they neutralize each other and produce salt and water.

HCl+NaOH\rightarrow NaCl+H_2O

Write the atomic symbols for isotopes with the following characteristics?
RideAnS [48]
The isotopes are represented with two numbers before the atom symbol. One number means the atomic number (number of protons) and is placed on the left lower corner, the other number is that mass number (number of protons and neutrons) and is placed on the right upper corner. With that, 1) (8, 18) O: 8 is the atomic number and 18 is the mass number; 2) (10, 22) Ne: 10 is the atomic number and 22 is the mass number; 3) (25, 53) Mn: 25 is the atomic number and 53 is the mas number; 4) (11, 24) Na: 11 is the atomic number and 24 is the mass number; (22, 47) Ti: 22 is the atomic number and 47 is the mass number. The two numbers are placed without parentheses, again atomic number on the left lower corner and the mass number on the left upper corner.
