What main criterion determines major divisions in the geologic time scale?
koban [17]

The answer is B. the occurrence of huge events in Earth's natural history

Figure 2 shows what happens to the electrons in the outer shells when a sodium atom reacts with a fluorine atom.
QveST [7]

Sodium reacts with fluorine to make a covalent bond between them. A covalent bond is formed when there is a mutual sharing of electrons between the two adjacent atoms.

Here, Sodium is metal and fluorine is non-metal. So, the bond between them may be an ionic bond, but as the Sodium has one valence electron and fluorine is highly electronegative. Sodium wants to lose electrons and fluorine wants to gain electrons to form a chemical bond. Therefore, the sodium donates its valence electron to fluorine, forms a cation, and fluorine accepts the electron and forms an anion and they distribute the difference in the charge between them.

So, we can say that when sodium and fluorine react to form sodium fluoride with a covalent bond.

Calculate the molar concentration of OH ions in a 0.066 M solution of ethylamine (C2H5NH2: Kb= 6.4 x 10-)
wel

Answer:

6.5x10⁻³M = [OH⁻]

Explanation:

The Kb of a Weak base as ethylamine is expressed as follows:

Kb = [OH⁻] [C₂H₅NH₃⁺] / [C₂H₅NH₂]

As the equilibrium of ethylenamine is:

C₂H₅NH₂(aq) + H₂O(l) ⇄ C₂H₅NH₃⁺(aq) + OH(aq)

The concentration of C₂H₅NH₃⁺(aq) + OH(aq) is the same because both ions comes from the same equilibrium. Thus, we can write:

Kb = [OH⁻] [C₂H₅NH₃⁺] / [C₂H₅NH₂]

6.4x10⁻⁴ = [X] [X] / [C₂H₅NH₂]

Also, we can assume the concentration of ethylamine doesn't decrease. Replacing:

6.4x10⁻⁴ = [X] [X] / [0.066M]

4.224x10⁻⁵ = X²

6.5x10⁻³M = X

6.5x10⁻³M = [OH⁻]

A cation is a metallic ion derived from base.Why is it derived from base?Can you derive it from an acid?
Scorpion4ik [409]

Answer:the cation can't be drived from an acid

Explanation:

Example

HCL+MgOH2=MgCl2+H2O

The cation in the salt magnesium chloride is magnesium which is derived from the base and the anion chlorine from the acid hydrochloric acid. The same is true in water.

Please can you add as brainleist please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
