if Cadmium has an atomic number of 48 and an atomic mass of 112 and it undergoes alpha decay the element formed is palladium with atomic number of 46 and atomic mass of 108.

Alpha decay is the type of radioactive decay in which a nucleus emit alpha decay due to the change in the atomic nucleus, the element changes into another element.

Generally, the mass number is reduced by 4 and the atomic number is reduced by 2.

Therefore, if Cadmium has an atomic number of 48 and an atomic mass of 112 and it undergoes alpha decay, the new element produced can be represented as follows:

Cd¹¹²₄₈ → Pd¹⁰⁸₄₆ + He₂⁴

The atomic mass and atomic number of cadmium reduced by 4 and 2 respectively to form palladium with atomic mass of 108 and atomic number of 46.

Therefore, the element form is palladium with atomic number of 46 and atomic mass of 108.

Exactly one pound of bread dough is placed in a baking tin. The dough is cooked in an oven at 350°F, releasing a wonderful aroma
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

The mass of the baked loaf will be less than the dough.

Explanation: When heat is applied to food substance or products like the one pound the substance or material gains a higher temperature, the increase in temperature causes moisture inherent or added to the product in this case the one pound dough to be lost, the one pound dough prepared at room temperature, once it is placed inside the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit it will lose moisture in the form of vapor to the environment as noticed in the aroma, the moisture lost will eventually reduce it mass/weight (kilograms or grams) by some percentage or quantities(kilograms or grams)

A heat engine operating between energy reservoirs at 20?c and 600?c has 30% of the maximum possible efficiency.
Anarel [89]
The maximum possible efficiency, i.e the efficiency of a Carnot engine , is give by the ratio of the absolute temperatures of hot and cold reservoir.
η_max = 1 - (T_c/T_h)

For this engine:
η_max = 1 - [ (20 +273)K/(600 + 273)K ] = 0.66 = 66%

The actual efficiency of the engine is 30%, i.e.
η = 0.3 ∙ 0.664 = 0.20 = 20 %

On the other hand thermal efficiency is defined as the ratio of work done to the amount of heat absorbed from hot reservoir:
η = W/Q_h

So the heat required from hot reservoir is:
Q_h = W/η = 1000J / 0.20 = 5000J

Air flows upward in the wick of a lantern because of the liquid property called
vovangra [49]

Adhesive.

Adhesive is the force of attraction between molecules of different kind. Liquid flows upward the wick because the adhesive force between the wick and the liquid is higher than cohesive forces in the liquid.

When the adhesive force between the wick and the liquid is high we have capillarity taking place. This cause the liquid to move up the wick.

A disk-shaped merry-go-round of radius 2.63 m and mass 152 kg rotates freely with an angular speed of 0.526 rev/s. A 51.7 kg per
zalisa [80]

Explanation:

Given

radiusr=2.63 m

N=0.526 rev/s

\omega =3.30 rad/s

mass disc M=152 kg

mass of person m=51.7 kg

velocity of Person v=2.76 m/s

moment of inertia I=Mr^2

I=0.5\times 152\times 2.63^2=827.64 kg-m^2

Initial angular momentum

L_i=I\omega +mvr

L_i=827.64\times 3.30+51.7\times 2.76\times 2.63

L_i=2731.212+375.27=3106.48 Js

Final Moment inertia

I_f=0.5Mr^2+mr^2

I_f=(152\cdot 0.5+51.7)\cdot (2.63)^2=1185.243 kg-m^2

final angular momentum

L_f=I_f\omega _f

Conserving angular momentum

L_i=L_f

3106.48=1408.97\times \omega _f

\omega _f=2.62 rad/s
