Seawater found to be seeping up through the canyon floor is why

scientists think Grand Canyon was once covered by an ocean.

Grand cayon is located in Arizona, United States and comprises of a lot of

fossil records and rocks which makes it one of the best sites for geological

study.

The Grand cayon was found to be seeping through its floor which made

scientists think it was once covered by an ocean years ago.

You want to minimize an objects thermal energy loss on a cold day. How does heat energy transfer affect thermal energy loss?
san4es73 [151]

Answer:

4- A material that transfers heat energy more easily than another material will experience a greater rate of thermal energy loss than an object that does not transfer heat energy easily.

Explanation:

Thermal energy loss has to do with loss of heat energy by a body to another body or its environment. The aim of the process is usually the attainment of thermal equilibrium between the body and its environment.

On a cold day, a material that transfers thermal energy more easily will loose thermal energy faster than an object that does not transfer thermal energy. The rate of heat transfer of a body determines its rate of loss of thermal energy.

The physical and chemical properties of a molecule depend on its structure. Here are two ball-and-stick models for two compounds
djyliett [7]

Answer:

Ethanol has covalent intramolecular bonds. Ethanol is polar. Ethanol has dispersion intermolecular forces. Dimethyl ether is polar. Dimethyl ether forms hydrogen bonds. Dimethyl ether has dispersion intermolecular forces.

Explanation:

Ethanol is not a carboxylic acid. It is an alcohol and it has covelent intramolecular bonds. It is polar and it also has dispersion intermolecular forces.

Dimethyl ether is also polar and it has forms hydrogen bonds. It also has dispersion intermolecular forces. Dimethyl ether does not have ionic intramolecular forces

1. For each of the molecules below, determine the electron geometry, molecule geometry, and bond
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

CCl4- tetrahedral bond angle 109°

PF3 - trigonal pyramidal bond angles less than 109°

OF2- Bent with bond angle much less than 109°

I3 - linear with bond angles = 180°

A molecule with two double bonds and no lone pairs - linear molecule with bond angle =180°

Explanation:

Valence shell electron-pair repulsion theory (VSEPR theory) helps us to predict the molecular shape, including bond angles around a central atom, of a molecule by examination of the number of bonds and lone electron pairs in its Lewis structure. The VSEPR model assumes that electron pairs in the valence shell of a central atom will adopt an arrangement which tends to minimize repulsions between these electron pairs by maximizing the distance between them. The electrons in the valence shell of a central atom are either bonding pairs of electrons, located primarily between bonded atoms, or lone pairs. The electrostatic repulsion of these electrons is reduced when the various regions of high electron density assume positions as far apart from each other as possible.

Lone pairs and multiple bonds are known to cause more repulsion than single bonds and bond pairs. Hence the presence of lone pairs or multiple bonds tend to distort the molecular geometry geometry away from that predicted on the basis of VSEPR theory. For instance CCl4 is tetrahedral with no lone pair and four regions of electron density around the central atom. This is the expected geometry. However OF2 also has four regions of electron density but has a bent structure. The molecule has four regions of electron density but two of them are lone pairs causing more repulsion. Hence the observed bond angle is less than 109°.
