The number of energy levels increases as you move down a group as the number of electrons increases. Each subsequent energy level is further from the nucleus than the last.

A glass sphere is filled to full volume with a gas. The pressure of the gas inside the sphere is 30.0 atm, and the temperature i
harkovskaia [24]

Answer:

28atm

Explanation:

Using Gay lussac's law equation as follows:

P1/T1 = P2/T2

Where;

P1 = initial pressure (atm)

T1 = initial temperature (K)

P2 = final pressure (atm)

T2 = final temperature (K)

Based on the information provided in this question;

P1 = 30.0 atm, T1 = 30.0°C, P2 = ?, T2 = 10.0°C

NOTE: Absolute temperature i.e. Kelvin is required for this law

T1 = 30°C + 273K = 303K

T2 = 10°C + 273K = 283K

Using P1/T1 = P2/T2

30/303 = P2/283

Cross multiply

P2 × 303 = 30 × 283

303P2 = 8490

P2 = 8490/303

P2 = 28.02

New pressure of the gas = 28atm

A compound contains 40.0% carbon, 6.7% hydrogen, and 53.3% oxygen (by mass). calculate the empirical formula.
Eva8 [605]
C:H:O = 40/12 : 6,7/1 : 53,3/16 = 3,33 : 6,7 : 3,33 ≈ 1 : 2 : 1

A sample weighing 3.110 g is a mixture of Fe 2 O 3 (molar mass = 159.69 g/mol) and Al 2 O 3 (molar mass = 101.96 g/mol). When he
grandymaker [24]

Answer:

The mass fraction of ferric oxide in the original sample :\frac{723}{3110}

Explanation:

Mass of the mixture = 3.110 g

Mass of Fe_2O_3=x

Mass of Al_2O_3=y

After heating the mixture it allowed to react with hydrogen gas in which all the ferric oxide reacted to form metallic iron and water vapors where as aluminum oxide did not react.

Fe_2O_3(s)+3H_2(g)\rightarrow 2Fe(s)+3H_2O(g)

Mass of mixture left after all the ferric oxide has reacted = 2.387 g

Mass of mixture left after all the ferric oxide has reacted = y

x=3.110 g- y=3.110 g - 2.387 g = 0.723 g

The mass fraction of ferric oxide in the original sample :

\frac{0.723 g}{3.110 g}=\frac{723}{3110}
