Answer: Infinitely many solutions

Explanation:

Let's say we had this system

y = x+5

x-y = -5

Let's replace y with x+5 in the second equation

x-y = -5

x-(y) = -5

x-(x+5) = -5

x-x-5 = -5

0x-5 = -5

0-5 = -5

-5 = -5

We end up with a true statement since we get the same number on both sides. This system has infinitely many solutions. The two equations produce the same straight line graph. Effectively, the two lines overlap perfectly to intersect infinitely many times.

Notice how solving x-y = -5 for y leads to y = x+5. This is more evidence that both original equations are identical (just in different forms).

What is the vertex of the graph?
nikdorinn [45]

Answer:

  • The point (x, y) → (-5, 0) is the vertex of the graph.

Step-by-step explanation:

As the given graph represents Parabola

  • As we know that Parabolas always contain the lowest point, or the highest point if any given parabola is upside-down. This lowest or highest point is the location where the parabola tends to change its direction and called the 'vertex'.

Hence, from the given graph, we can easily determine that the parabola changes its direction at x = -5, and y = 0.

  • Therefore, the point (x, y) → (-5, 0) is the vertex of the graph.

MAVERICK [17]

Answer: (-8,0)

Step-by-step explanation: 5 units to the right would be -3 - 5. which is -8. going down 1 unit from 1 would bring you down to 0.
