Consider a car parked on a hill and pick the axis of rotation (i.e., the pivot point) to pass through the points where the front

tires touch the ground. The weight of the car exerts a torque about this axis. What other forces on the car will also exert a torque about this same axis?
(a) The forces of friction on the back tires only.
(b) The forces of friction on both the front and back tires.
(c) The normal forces on the front tires of the car.
(d) The normal forces on the back tires of the car.
(e) The normal forces on both the front and back tires.

Answer:d

Explanation:

Torque of Frictional force will be zero

\tau _{f_1}=zero

\tau_{f_2}=zero

because they passes through line of action

Torque of Weight is T=W\times x

The other force which will create torque about Pivot point is Normal Force on second tire

Torque due to Normal Reaction \tau _N=N_2\times y

Thus Normal Force on back tires of car will create torque about this same axis.

What is the energy of a baby who weighs 20 N sitting on a 1.5 m high chair
guajiro [1.7K]
The energy of the baby is gravitational potential energy, and it is equal to the weight of the baby times its height from the ground:
U=(mg) h
where
mg=20 N is the weight (the mass times the gravitational acceleration)
h=1.5 m is the height from the ground
If we plug the numbers into the equation, we find
U=(mg)h=(20 N)(1.5 m)=30 J

Describe a situation where an object has a change in velocity but constant speed
arlik [135]
-- the little ball going round and round a spinning roulette wheel

-- a car driving around a curve in the road at a constant speed

-- any Earth satellite in a perfectly circular orbit.
The closest thing to it is a geostationary TV satellite ... they try hard
to make those orbits perfectly circular, and keep correcting them to
stay circular.
