Answer:

Gardening enthusiasts can have these things and more by constructing a greenhouse in their backyards or acreages. You can choose a mini greenhouse, small greenhouse or even a barn greenhouse for whatever purposes you need it for.

A large plate is fabricated from a steel alloy that has a plane strain fracture toughness of 55 MPa √m (50 ksi √in.). If, during
astra-53 [7]

Answer:

0.024 m = 24.07 mm

Explanation:

1) Notation

\sigma_c = tensile stress = 200 Mpa

K = plane strain fracture toughness= 55 Mpa\sqrt{m}

\lambda= length of a surface crack (Variable of interest)

2) Definition and Formulas

The Tensile strength is the ability of a material to withstand a pulling force. It is customarily measured in units (F/A), like the pressure. Is an important concept in engineering, especially in the fields of materials and structural engineering.

By definition we have the following formula for the tensile stress:

\sigma_c=\frac{K}{Y\sqrt{\pi\lambda}}   (1)

We are interested on the minimum length of a surface that will lead to a fracture, so we need to solve for \lambda

Multiplying both sides of equation (1) by Y\sqrt{\pi\lambda}

\sigma_c Y\sqrt{\pi\lambda}=K   (2)

Sequaring both sides of equation (2):

(\sigma_c Y\sqrt{\pi\lambda})^2=(K)^2

\sigma^2_c Y^2 \pi\lambda=K^2   (3)

Dividing both sides by \sigma^2_c Y^2 \pi we got:

\lambda=\frac{1}{\pi}[\frac{K}{Y\sigma_c}]^2   (4)

Replacing the values into equation (4) we got:

\lambda=\frac{1}{\pi}[\frac{55 Mpa\sqrt{m}}{1.0(200Mpa)}]^2 =0.02407m

3) Final solution

So the minimum length of a surface crack that will lead to fracture, would be 24.07 mm or more.

Problem 4.079 SI A rigid tank whose volume is 3 m3, initially containing air at 1 bar, 295 K, is connected by a valve to a large
salantis [7]

Answer:

Q_{cv} = -1007.86kJ

Explanation:

Our values are,

State 1

V=3m^3\\P_1=1bar\\T_1 = 295K

We know moreover for the tables A-15 that

u_1 = 210.49kJ/kg\\h_i = 295.17kJkg

State 2

P_2 =6bar\\T_2 = 296K\\T_f = 320K

For tables we know at T=320K

u_2 = 228.42kJ/kg

We need to use the ideal gas equation to estimate the mass, so

m_1 = \frac{p_1V}{RT_1}

m_1 = \frac{1bar*100kPa/1bar(3m^3)}{0.287kJ/kg.K(295k)}

m_1 = 3.54kg

Using now for the final mass:

m_2 = \frac{p_2V}{RT_2}

m_2 = \frac{1bar*100kPa/6bar(3m^3)}{0.287kJ/kg.K(320k)}

m_2 = 19.59kg

We only need to apply a energy balance equation:

Q_{cv}+m_ih_i = m_2u_2-m_1u_1

Q_{cv}=m_2u_2-m1_u_1-(m_2-m_1)h_i

Q_{cv} = (19.59)(228.42)-(3.54)(210.49)-(19.59-3.54)(295.17)

Q_{cv} = -1007.86kJ

Oksi-84 [34.3K]

When the material that exits is lesser in amount than that of the entering material in a black box experiment, the parts of the system need to be changed.

<h3>What happens in a black box experiment?</h3>

In a black box experiment, the experimenters need to make assumptions regarding the drawing of conclusions. One such conclusion is the amount of material that exits.

If such amount is lesser than the one that enters the system, such experiment concludes that it is the time to change the parts of the system.

Hence, option D holds true regarding the black box experiment.
