A robot spacecraft returned samples from the planetesimal 98765 ALEKS, located in the outer Solar System. Mass-spectroscopic ana

lysis produced the following data on the isotopes of ruthenium in these samples:
isotope mass
(amu) relative
abundance
Use these measurements to complete the entry for ruthenium in the Periodic Table that would be used on 98765 ALEKS. Round your entry for the atomic mass to significant digits.

Caution: your correct answer will have the same format but not necessarily the same numbers as the entry for ruthenium in the Periodic Table we use here on Earth.

Isotopes are atomic elements with the same proton number. The atomic number of the Ru atom in the periodic table will be 44 and the mass will be 100.9.

<h3>What are atomic numbers and mass?</h3>

Atomic numbers are the number of protons present in the nucleus of the atom. Whereas the atomic mass is the total number of protons and the neutrons of the atom.

The atomic number is the number of protons and remains constant for the same element at different places or planets. Hence, the atomic number of Ruthenium will be 44.

The atomic mass depends on the relative abundance and is calculated as:

\begin{aligned}\rm atomic\;  mass &= \rm \sum (relative \; abundance \times atomic \; mass) \; of \; each \; isotope\\\\&= (96\% \times 100.91) + (4\% \times 101.90)\\\\&=100.9\end{aligned}

Therefore, the atomic mass of Ru is 100.9 and the atomic number is 44.

How many moles of atoms are in 9.00 g of 13c?
Blababa [14]
<span>The atomic weight of 13C should be pretty close to 13.0. (If you have the exact mass, use it in the problem.) So, 9.00 g / 13.0 g/mol = 0.692 moles Therefore, the answer should be 0.692 moles are in 9.00 g of 13C.</span>

What sample size (grams) of Na3PO4 (FW 164.00) known to be 50.00% pure should be used to consume exactly 40.00 mL of 0.1000 M HC
Mkey [24]

Answer:

0.109 g.

Explanation:

Equation of the reaction:

Na3PO4 + 3HCl --> 3NaCl + H3PO4

Number of moles of HCl = molar concentration × volume

= 0.1 × 0.04

= 0.004 mol.

By stoichiometry, 1 mole of Na3PO4 neutralises 3 moles of HCl. Therefore, number of moles of Na3PO4 = 0.004/3

= 0.0013 mol

Mass of Na3PO4 = molar mass × number of moles

= 0.0013 × 164

= 0.219 g

Since 50% of Na3PO4 was present in the sample. Let 100 g be the total mass of the substance

= 0.219 × 50 g/100 g

= 0.109 g.
