Generally speaking only certain molecules will dissolve in water to begin with. The old phrase "like dissolves like" or "birds of a feather flock together" is very true with respect to what degree solutes are soluble or miscible in different solvents. At very low concentrations, almost all molecules are somewhat soluble in all solvents. But by trend, ionic and polar solutes are more soluble in polar solvents and non-polar molecules are soluble in non-polar (mostly organic) solvents. The units of concentration we just discussed are used to describe the degree to which a solute is soluble in a solvent.

When you place a non-polar molecule in a polar solvent (like oil in water) the molecules try to minimize surface contact between them. (like you and a guy with a cold on an elevator). This is actually the basis for the cells in our bodies. The lipids (oily fatty acids) form our cell membranes so that their non-polar tails face inward away from the polar cytoplasm and the polar heads face towards the polar cytoplasm.

miv72 [106K]

Answer:

Q >> Kc

We have more products than reactans. To reach the equilibrium, the balance will shift to the left.

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Temperature = 450.0 K

Kc = 4.62

When Kc > Q, we have more reactants than products. To reach the equilibrium, the balance will shift to the right

When Kc < Q, we have more products than reactans. To reach the equilibrium, the balance will shift to the left.

When Kc = Q,the equiation isatequilibrium

[SO3] = 0.254 M

[O2] = 0.00855 M

[SO2] = 0.500 M

Step 2: The balanced equation

2SO2(g) + O2(g) ⇄ 2SO3(g)

Step 3: Calculate the Q

Q = [SO3]² / [O2][SO2]²

Q = 0.254²/ (0.500 * 0.00855²)

Q = 1765

Q >> Kc

We have more products than reactans. To reach the equilibrium, the balance will shift to the left.

Which isotope in each pair is more stable? Why?(a) ¹⁴⁰₅₅Cs or ¹³³₅₅Cs
kiruha [24]

Among ¹⁴⁰₅₅Cs and ¹³³₅₅Cs, ¹³³₅₅Cs is more stable.

Briefly explained

Let's review the criteria that are used to determine a stable isotope. A stable isotope will have more neutrons than protons with a neutron to proton ratio somewhere between one and 1.52 On the high atomic number, we're up to 152 at low atomic numbers were closer to one. More stable isotopes have an even number of protons. And neutrons.

And stable isotopes have their proton or neutron number equal to one of these magic numbers. So if we have season one, It has 85 Protons are start 85 neutrons And 55 protons. So we have a neutron to proton ratio of 155 for CCM 1 33. We have 78 neutrons and 55 protons for a neutron to proton ratio of 1.42. 155 is a little high for z equal to 55.

Both of these are also odd. So ¹⁴⁰₅₅Cs is the least stable. ¹³³₅₅Cs is the most stable.

If electrons are collectively compressed into a very small volume (e.g., within the core of a dying white dwarf star) where quan
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer: A degenerate pressure will generate a large force to repel further compression.

Explanation: In the production of new stars from the core of old dying white dwarf stars, the inner parts of the star will experience contraction with the release of heat , as they contract, their atoms will be squeezed such that their electrons start to overlap, and because of the Pauli's exclusive principle which states that no two electrons can occupy same space, the electrons will begin to repel each other and an opposing pressure called degenerate pressure will create a force so that the electrons cannot continually be crushed or overlap. With the limit of contraction, the outer parts of the star will expand and be repelled releasing the old stars called nebula and creating space for the inner new stars to form.

Why is soil conversation important
Vinvika [58]

Answer:

Soil conservation is important because soil is crucial for many aspects of human life as it provides food, filters air and water and helps to decompose biological waste into nutrients for new plant life. Soil can be drained away or contaminated, destroying it for use. Soil conversation involves working to reduce contamination and depletion.
