gas is compressed by a piston in a cylinder from an initial pressure of 1.0 bar and initial volume of 0.4m3 , to a final pressur

e of 1.4 bar. During the compression process, the product of the gas pressure P and volume V remains constant. Determine the work done on the gas. If during the compression the gas loses 8.1 kJ of heat to the surroundings, determine the change in internal energy of the gas.

The work was done on the gas. and internal energy of the gas will be -13459 J and -21649 J.

<h3>What is work done by gas?</h3>

When energy is moved from one store to another, work is completed. Work done on the gas is taken as -ve.

Given data;

Initial pressure(P₁)=1.0 bar

The initial volume, V₁=0.4m³

Final pressure(P₂) =1.4 bar.

work is done on the gas., W=?(-ve)

Heat release= - 8.1 kJ

Change in the internal energy of the gas., ΔE

During the compression process, PV=C

P₁V₁=P₂V₂

1.0 bar × 0.4m³= 1.4 bar ×V₂

V₂=0.285 m³

\rm W=P_1V_1ln\frac{V_2}{V_1} \\\\\ \rm W=1.0 \times 0.4 ln\frac{0.285}{0.4} \\\\\ W=-13549 \ J

The work done on the gas will be -13459 J.

The internal energy is found as;

ΔE=q+w

ΔE= -8.1 ×10³ -13549

ΔE=-21649 J

Hence, work was done on the gas. and internal energy of the gas will be -13459 J and -21649 J.

A student is doing a lab experiment in which she uses diffraction to measure the width of a shaft of her hair. She shines a 530
professor190 [17]

Answer:

.09 mm

Explanation:

In case of diffraction by single slit with width a the width of central maxima is given below

width = 2 λD/a

where λ is wavelength of light , D is distance of screen , a is width o slit

substituting the given values

14 x 10⁻³ = \frac{2\times530\times10^{-9}\times1.2}{a}

a = .09 mm

b) If a is greater , width of central maxima will be less wide.

What two motions do all planets have?
mixas84 [53]

Answer:

The two planetary movements are revolution and rotation.

Explanation:

In the vast solar system, planets traverse while also remaining fixated within the system because of gravity. Each planet is unique and so is its movement, but, at the same time, there are two common types of movements.
