Balancing redox reactions:

Oxygen should be balanced by adding H_{2}O as needed, while hydrogen should be balanced by adding H^{+}.

What is a redox reaction?

Redox reactions, also known as oxidation-reduction reactions, involve the simultaneous oxidation and reduction of two different reactants.

The Half-Equation Method is one technique used to balance redox processes. The equation is divided into two half-equations using this technique: one for oxidation and one for reduction.

By changing the coefficients and adding H_{2}O, H^{+}, and e^{-} in that order, each reaction is brought into equilibrium:

 1. By putting the right number of water (H_{2}O) molecules on the other side of the equation, the oxygen atoms are brought into balance.
 2. By adding H^{+} ions to the opposing side of the equation, one can balance the hydrogen atoms (including those added in step 2 to balance the oxygen atom).
 3. Total the fees for each side. Add enough electrons (e^{-}) to the more positive side to make them equal. (As a general rule, e^{-} and H^{+}are nearly always on the same side.)
 4. The e^{-} on either side must be made equal; if not, they must be multiplied by the lowest common multiple (LCM) in order to make them equal.
 5. One balanced equation is created by adding the two half-equations and canceling out the electrons. Additionally, common terms should be eliminated.
 6. Now that the equation has been verified, it can be balanced.

Doss [256]

Explanation:

The Holy Roman Empire (Latin: Sacrum Imperium Romanum; German: Heiliges Römisches Reich), also termed as the First Reich, was a multi-ethnic complex of territories in Western and Central Europe that developed during the Early Middle Ages and continued until its dissolution in 1806 during the Napoleonic Wars.[6] The largest territory of the empire after 962 was the Kingdom of Germany, though it also included the neighboring Kingdom of Bohemia and Kingdom of Italy, plus numerous other territories, and soon after the Kingdom of Burgundy was added. However, while by the end of the 15th century the Empire was still in theory composed of three major blocks – Italy, Germany, and Burgundy – in practice only the Kingdom of Germany remained, with the Burgundian territories lost to France and the Italian territories, ignored in the Imperial Reform, although formally part of the Empire, were splintered into numerous de facto independent territorial entities.[7][8][9][10] The external borders of the Empire did not change noticeably from the Peace of Westphalia – which acknowledged the exclusion of Switzerland and the Northern Netherlands, and the French protectorate over Alsace – to the dissolution of the Empire. By then, it largely contained only German-speaking territories, plus the Kingdom of Bohemia, the southern Netherlands and lands of Carniola. At the conclusion of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815, most of the Holy Roman Empire was included in the German Confederation.

Tatiana [17]

Answer:

Combustion reaction

Explanation:

Let's consider the following balanced equation.

CH₄ + 2 O₂ ⇒ CO₂ + 2 H₂O

This reaction is known as a combustion reaction, in which a compound reacts with oxygen to form a compound of carbon and water.

 • If the product is carbon dioxide, the combustion is complete.
 • If the product is carbon monoxide or carbon, the combustion is incomplete.

The Benzenesulfonic acid does not undergo Friedel-Crafts alkylation because of the deactivation of the compound by the carboxylic group.

What is the Grignard reagent?

The Grignard reagent is a compound that contains alkyl magnesium halide.

a) The student will be unsuccessful to prepare a Grignard reagent from 4-bromocyclohexanol because of the -OH group that reacts with the Grignard reagent when formed.

b) The Benzenesulfonic acid does not undergo Friedel-Crafts alkylation because of the deactivation of the compound by the carboxylic group.

c) The compound (2S, 3R)- 2,3-Dibromobutane has a specific rotation, [a]D, 0⁰ because it is a meso compound.

d) This is because, the tertiary alkyl halide is more prone to elimination reaction giving the alkene.

e) This is because, the reaction may be occurring by an SN1 mechanism and the rate determining step is the formation of the carbocation.
