In order to use the efficiency of a car engine in an optimal way, a maximum engine speed of 2,500 rpm for shifting is recommended for gas engines.

The maximum thermal efficiency of modern gasoline engines is over 50%, but legal cars on the road are only about 20% to 35% when used to power cars.

Unfortunately, even with regular car maintenance such as tuning and oil changes, the efficiency of today's gasoline engines is about 30-35%. In other words, about 65 cents per dollar spent on gasoline is wasted.

EPA's 2020 Automotive Trend Report preliminary data shows that the average fuel economy of 2020 model light trucks has increased to 25.7 miles per gallon (MPG). If this preliminary data holds, it will mark the highest average fuel economy ever for a new light commercial vehicle.

The current in a series circuit is 19.3 A. When an additional 7.40-Ω resistor is inserted in series, the current drops to 13.4 A
Bogdan [553]

Answer:

16.8ohms

Explanation:

According to ohm's law which states that the current passing through a metallic conductor at constant temperature is directly proportional to the potential difference across its ends.

Mathematically, V = IRt where;

V is the voltage across the circuit

I is the current

R is the effective resistance

For a series connected circuit, same current but different voltage flows through the resistors.

If the initial current in a circuit is 19.3A,

V = 19.3R... (1)

When additional resistance of 7.4-Ω is added and current drops to 13.4A, our voltage in the circuit becomes;

V = 13.4(7.4+R)... (2)

Note that the initial resistance is added to the additional resistance because they are connected in series.

Equating the two value of the voltages i.e equation 1 and 2 to get the resistance in the original circuit we will have;

19.3R = 13.4(7.4+R)

19.3R = 99.16+13.4R

19.3R-13.4R = 99.16

5.9R = 99.16

R= 99.16/5.9

R = 16.8ohms

The resistance in the original circuit will be 16.8ohms

A boat is traveling at an initial velocity of 2.7 meters per second in the positive direction. It accelerates at a rate of 0.15
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

\boxed {\boxed {\sf 4.5 \ m/s \ in \ the  \ positive \ direction}}

Explanation:

We are asked to find the final velocity of the boat.

We are given the initial velocity, acceleration, and time. Therefore, we will use the following kinematic equation.

v_f= v_i + at

The initial velocity is 2.7 meters per second. The acceleration is 0.15 meters per second squared. The time is 12 seconds.

  • v_i= 2.7 m/s
  • a= 0.15 m/s²
  • t= 12 s

Substitute the values into the formula.

v_f = 2.7 \ m/s + (0.15 \ m/s^2)(12 \ s)

Multiply the numbers in parentheses.

v_f= 2.7 \ m/s + (0.15 \ m/s/s * 12 \ s)

v_f = 2.7 \ m/s + (0.15 \ m/s *12)

\v_f=2.7 \ m/s + (1.8 \ m/s)v_f=2.7 \ m/s + (1.8 \ m/s)

Add.

v_f=4.5 \ m/s

The final velocity of the boat is <u>4.5 meters per second in the positive direction.</u>

Americium-241 is used in smoke detectors. It undergoes alpha decay with a half life of 432 years. The alpha particles ionize som
babymother [125]

Answer:

860.6 years.

Explanation:

The parameters given are;

Initial detector activity = 370000 alpha decays per second

Final detector activity = 93000 alpha decays per second

Formula for time to change in activity is given by the following relation;

t_{93000} = \dfrac{-ln\dfrac{A}{A_0} }{\lambda} =  \dfrac{-ln\dfrac{93000}{370000} }{5.08 \times 10^{-11}} = 2.72 \times 10^{10} \, seconds

t₉₃₀₀₀ = 2.72 × 10¹⁰ seconds = 860.6 years.
