The isotope that is more abundant, given the data is isotope Li7

<h3>Assumption</h3>
  • Let Li6 be isotope A
  • Let Li7 be isotope B

<h3>How to determine whiche isotope is more abundant</h3>
  • Molar mass of isotope A (Li6) = 6.02 u
  • Molar mass of isotope B (Li7) = 7.02 u
  • Atomic mass of lithium = 6.94 u
  • Abundance of A = A%
  • Abundance of B = (100 - A)%

Atomic mass = [(mass of A × A%) / 100] + [(mass of B × B%) / 100]

6.94 = [(6.02 × A%) / 100] + [(7.02 × (100 - A)) / 100]

6.94 = [6.02A% / 100] + [702 - 7.02A% / 100]

6.94 = [6.02A% + 702 - 7.02A%] / 100

Cross multiply

6.02A% + 702 - 7.02A% = 6.94 × 100

6.02A% + 702 - 7.02A% = 694

Collect like terms

6.02A% - 7.02A% = 694 - 702

-A% = -8

A% = 8%

Thus,

Abundance of B = (100 - A)%

Abundance of B = (100 - 8)%

Abundance of B = 92%

SUMMARY

  • Abundance of A (Li6) = 8%
  • Abundance of B (Li7) = 92%

From the above, isotope Li7 is more abundant.

Determine the expected diffraction angle for the first-order diffraction from the (111) set of planes for FCC nickel (Ni) when m
faust18 [17]

Answer:

56°

Explanation:

First calculate a:

a=2 R \sqrt{2}=2(0.1246) \sqrt{2}=0.352 \mathrm{nm}

The interplanar spacing can be calculated from:

d_{111}=\frac{a}{\sqrt{1^{2}+1^{2}+1^{2}}}=\frac{0.352}{\sqrt{3}}=0.203 \mathrm{nm}

The diffraction angle is determined from:

\sin \theta=\frac{n \lambda}{2 d_{111}}=\frac{1(0.1927)}{2(0.2035)}=0.476

Solve for \theta

\theta=\sin ^{-1}(0.476)=28^{\circ}

The diffraction angle is:

2 \theta=2\left(28^{\circ}\right)=56^{\circ}

According the the arrhenius theory, which species does an acid produce in an aqueous solution?
4vir4ik [10]
Note: Above question is incomplete: Complete question is read as
<span>According the the arrhenius theory, which species does an acid produce in an aqueous solution?
</span>A) hydrogen ions B) hydroxyl ions C) Sodium ions D) Chloride ion
.....................................................................................................................
Correct answer for above question is A) Hydrogen ions

Reason:
According the Arrhenius theory of acid and base, acid generates hydrogen ions in aqueous medium, while bases generates hydroxyl ions in aqueous medium.
Example of Acid:
HCl(aq)          →          H+(aq)    + Cl-(aq)

Example of Base:
NaOH(aq)           →          Na+(aq)       +     OH-(aq)

Boron has two isotopes, Boron 10 which has a mass of 10.0129 amu and Boron-11 with a mass of 11.0093 amu. B-10 occurs 84.74% of
podryga [215]

The average atomic mass of Boron: 10.431 amu

<h3>Further explanation   </h3>

Isotopes are atoms whose no-atom has the same number of protons while still having a different number of neutrons.

So Isotopes are elements that have the same Atomic Number (Proton)

Atomic mass is the average atomic mass of all its isotopes

In determining the mass of an atom, as a standard is the mass of 1 carbon-12 atom whose mass is 12 amu

Mass atom X = mass isotope 1 . % + mass isotope 2.%  + ...

The average atomic mass of boron :

\tt avg~mass=0.8474\times 10.0129+0.1526\times 11.0093\\\\avg~mass=10.431~amu
