The time elapsed is 3229.2 days.

First-order reactions include those in radioactive decay. The reduction in radioactive nuclei per unit of time is the rate of decay, or activity, of a sample of a radioactive substance.

The Radioactive Formula is given by

                                N = N₀ (\frac{1}{2} )^\frac{t}{T}

Where N₀ = The initial quantity of the substance.

           N = The quantity remained.

           T = the half-life of the decaying quantity.

           t = time elapsed

The initial quantity of the substance = 4.0 g

The quantity remained = 1.0 g

The half-life of the decaying quantity = 1620 years

Using formula;

                1.0 = 4.0 (\frac{1}{2} )^\frac{t}{1620} \\

                log \frac{1.0}{4.0} = \frac{1}{1620} log \frac{1}{2}\\

                log 0.25 = \frac{t}{1620} log 0.5\\

                -0.60 = \frac{t}{1620} (-0.301)\\

                  t = \frac{972}{0.301} \\

                  t= 3229.2 sec

Therefore, the time elapsed is 3229.2 days

engineers who design battery operated devices suck as sell phones and MP3 players try to make them as efficient as possible. An
ICE Princess25 [194]
If the 5,500 J of sound and light is the ONLY useful output
from the phone, then the phone's efficiency is

                   (5,500J / 10,000J)  =  0.55  =  55% .

But the test engineer forgot one little minor almost insignificant detail.
As a test engineer myself, I'd say that he needs to turn in his laptop
and soldering iron, and think about changing his career to a job for
which he may be better suited, like 8 hours a day in a highway toll-booth.

What about that little radio transmitter and receiver inside the phone,
that maintain digital RF communication with the nearest cell tower ?
Without that microscopic radio transceiver ... plus 30 or 40 apps
that are always running unless you shut them off ... the device in your
pocket is essentially a flat rock with one side that sometimes glows.

A man wishes to pull a crate 15m across a rough floor by exerting a force of 100 N. The
Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

option (E) is correct.

Explanation:

Work done is defined as the product of force and the distance in the direction of force.

force, f = 100 N

Coefficient of friction, = 0.25

distance = 15 m

So, net force F = f - friction force

F = 100 - 0.25 x m g

Work = (100 - 0.25 mg) x d cosθ

For minimum work, the angle should be maximum.

So, the value of θ is 76°.

thus, option (E) is correct.

Compare the maximum rate of heat transfer to the basal metabolic rate by converting a bmr of 88 kcal/hr into watts. what is the
elena-14-01-66 [18.8K]

Explanation :

It is given that,

BMR i.e basal metabolic rate is 88 kcal/hr. So, BMR in watts is converted by the following :

We know that, 1 kilocalorie = 4184 joules

So, 1\ kcal/h=\dfrac{1\times 4184\ J}{3600\ sec}

1\ kcal/h=1.16\ J/sec

J/sec is nothing but watts.

So, 1\ kcal/h=1.16\ watts

and 88\ kcal/h=88\times 1.16\ watts = 102.08\ watts

So, it can be seen that the body can accommodate a modes amount of activity in hot weather but strenuous activity would increase the metabolic rate above the body's ability to remove heat.
