Reaction is exothermic because delta H is negative .

Given,

The balanced thermochemical equation used for H2S production is given by ,

1/8 S8 (s) + H2 (g) --> H2S(g)

∆H rxn = -20.22kj

In this case ∆H ( enthalpy of the reaction) is negative, thus energy is released to the surrounding, loss of energy occurs. thus it is an exothermic reaction.

What is exothermic reaction ?

It is a reaction in which energy is released in the form light or heat . in exothermic reaction energy is liberated to the surroundings .

For exothermic reaction ∆H <0 . means negative .

What is endothermic reaction?

It is a reaction in which energy is absorbed from the surrounding to the system for continuing the reaction. there is gain of energy occurs. For endothermic reaction ∆H >0 means positive.

3. Why do gases deviate from the ideal gas law at high pressures? A. Molecules have finite volume. B. Cohesive forces increase t
ipn [44]

Answer:

A. Molecules have finite volume.

Explanation:

Gases deviate from the ideal gas law at high pressures because its molecules have a finite volume.

Real gases have a finite volume which enables more interaction between the molecules while ideal gases are assumed not to have a finite volume or occupy space which is why it lacks any form of interaction between its molecules.

This difference is the deviation between the real and ideal gases.

What are the three conditions that exist where a real gas will not behave like an ideal gas
Scrat [10]
A gas behaves more like an ideal gas at higher temperature and lower pressure, as the potential energy due to intermolecular forces.
