A passenger in a bus will fall in the forward direction when the bus brakes to stop and falls backwards when it accelerates from rest due to inertia.

Newton's first law of motion, also called the law of inertia states that a body will continue to be in a state of rest or continue to move with uniform velocity, unless interrupted or acted upon by a force.

In other words, the law of inertia implies that there is a force that keeps a body in a state of rest. This same force also keeps moving objects moving at constant speed. This force is called the force of inertia.

Every object on earth, whether resting or moving has inertia. The passengers in the bus were moving at the same speed as the bus while it was in motion. They would fall in the forward direction when the bus stops moving due to the force of inertia. The same thing happens when the bus is accelerating from rest.

coldgirl [10]
The radar device determines the vehicle's instantaneous speed.

I would argue that the purpose of the device is not to determine
whether individuals are driving safely. They only determine whether
individuals are driving within legal speed limits. There's much more
to 'safe' driving than that, but the radar gun can't detect it.
