The box slides down the wall unless an external force of magnitude 23 N is applied on it. The object is directed upward with an angle of 27° above the horizontal surface. Therefore, the mass of block is 1.90 kg

<h3>What is friction?</h3>

A friction is a kind of force which resists the sliding or rolling of objects over the surface of each other.

Applied force, F = 23 N

Coefficient of static friction, μs = 0.40

Coefficient of kinetic friction, μs = 0.30

θ = 27°

Let 'N' be the normal reaction of the wall acting on the block and 'm' be the mass of block.

Resolve the components of force 'F'

As the block is in horizontal equilibrium with the wall.

So,

F Cos27° = N

N = 23 Cos27° = 20.495 N

As the block does not slide so it means that the static friction force acting on the block balances the downwards forces (gravity) acting on the block.

The force of static friction is:

μs x N = 0.4 x 20.495 = 8.19 N   .... (1)

The vertically downward force acting on the block is (mg - F Sin27°)

mg - 23 Sin 27° = mg - 10.441    ... (2)

Now by equating the forces from equation (1) and (2), we get

mg - 10.441 = 8.19

mg = 18.631

m x 9.8 = 18.631

m = 1.90 kg

Thus, the mass of block is 1.90 kg.

How can you prove the mechanical nature of sound by a simple experiment
Kruka [31]

Answer:

That is, mechanical waves cannot travel through a vacuum. This feature of mechanical waves is often demonstrated in a Physics class. A ringing bell is placed in a jar and air inside the jar is evacuated. Once air is removed from the jar, the sound of the ringing bell can no longer be heard.

A block of mass m = 1.5 kg is released from rest at a height of H = 0.81 m on a curved frictionless ramp. At the foot of the ram
kogti [31]

Answer:

0.31 m

Explanation:

m = mass of the block = 1.5 kg

H = height from which the block is released on ramp = 0.81 m

k = spring constant of the spring = 250 N/m

x = maximum compression of the spring

using conservation of energy

Spring potential energy gained by spring = Potential energy lost by block

(0.5) k x² = mgH

(0.5) (250) x² = (1.5) (9.8) (0.81)

x = 0.31 m

In a 30.0-s interval, 500 hailstones strike a glass window with an area of 0.600m2 at an angle of 45.0°to the window surface. Ea

or one hailstone we have;
Force = Mass X acceleration = 0.005kg x 9.8.} This is when the hailstone is not inclined at an angle.
When the hailstone is inclined at an angle of 45, then the component of force along the glass window will be F =0.005kg x 9.8 x sin45= 0.005kg x 9.8 x 0.707= 0.0346N.
Therefore, total force for the 500 hailstones would be 500x0.0346N=17.32N
This force is acting on an area equal to 0.600m2
Pressure = Force per unit area = 17.32N/0.600m2 = 28.9Pa

A boy, standing at point O, is whirling a ball on a string over his head. After several whirls, he lets go of the string and the
Vikki [24]
When a ball is whirled using a string, it is restricted to move only in circular motion because the net force acting on the ball is towards the center of the circle. Hence, the acceleration of the ball is towards the center. But the velocity of ball is tangential to this circular path all the time. When the whirling is stropped, the string becomes slack and tension in the string becomes zero. The ball no more performs circular motion and the ball moves tangentially to the circle in straight line. Therefore, before letting go, velocity was variable. After letting go, velocity becomes constant.
