Answer: There are 52 chromosomes in other somatic (body) cells.

There are 26 chromosomes in the gametic (sex) cells.

Explanation: There are two major classes of cells in the body: the somatic or body cells and the gametes or sex cells. Somatic cells undergo mitosis and have a diploid number of chromosomes while gametes undergo meiosis and have a haploid number of chromosomes. The sex cells are the sperm cells from the male and egg cells from the female. With the exception of the sperm cells and egg cells, other cells of the body are somatic cells. Sex cells have half the number of chromosomes found in the parent cells, they also have one single set of chromosomes. Liver cell is a body cell and because its diploid number of chromosome is 52, therefore other somatic cells also have 52 chromosomes.

The number of chromosomes in the gametes is 26 because sex cells have haploid number of chromosomes, that is, half the number of chromosomes found in the parent cell. Since the diploid number of chromosomes is 56, the haploid number of chromosomes of the gametes is 56/2 = 26

How will you differentiate thyroid and parathyroid glands in terms of location and function?
Natalija [7]
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that lies in front of the windpipe (trachea), just below the voice box. The parathyroid glands are four tiny glands located behind the thyroid gland. The parathyroid glands produce a substance (parathyroid hormone) that helps control the amount of calcium in the blood.

skelet666 [1.2K]
D) The Earth was hit by a one or more objects from space 65 million years ago. The iridium layer shows an extraterrestrial cause for the extinction at the Cretaceous Tertiary boundary, discovered by the Alvarez family. The first discovery of this layer was in the Bavarian alps, in Lattengebirge. The Alverez family proposed that the extinction of the dinosaurs was due to a large meteor hitting the Earth at the end of the Cretaceous period, marking the KT boundary with this clay layer which has a high content of iridium. Iridium is not common on Earth, but is common in meteors.

What happens to energy that is released from food, but not captured and store into<br> ATP?
nignag [31]

Answer:

In conditions of low or no oxygen the process of anaerobic respiration occurs. The 'an' in 'anaerobic' means without. During anaerobic respiration, the oxidation of glucose is incomplete - not all of the energy can be released from the glucose molecule as it is only partially broken down.
