A cylinder initially contains 1.5 kg of air at 100 kPa and 17 C. The air is compressed polytropically until the volume is reduce

Answer:

Work done = 96.15 KJ

Heat transferred = 24 KJ

Explanation:

We are given;

Mass of air;m = 1.5 kg

Initial pressure;P1 = 100 KPa

Initial temperature;T1 = 17°C = 273 + 17 K = 290 K

Final volume;V2 = 0.5V1

Since the polytropic exponent is 1.3,thus it means;

P2 = P1[V1/V2]^(1.3)

So,P2 = 100(V1/0.5V1)^(1.3)

P2 = 100(2)^(1.3)

P2 = 246.2 KPa

To find the final temperature, we will make use of combined gas law.

So,

(P1×V1)/T1 = (P2×V2)/T2

T2 = (P2×V2×T1)/(P1×V1)

Plugging in the known values;

T2 = (246.2×0.5V1×290)/(100×V1)

V1 cancels out to give;

T2 = (246.2×0.5×290)/100

T2 = 356.99 K

The boundary work for this polytropic process is given by;

W_b = - ∫P. dv between the initial boundary and final boundary.

Thus,

W_b = - (P2.V2 - P1.V1)/(1 - n) = -mR(T2 - T1)/(1 - n)

R is gas constant for air = 0.28705 KPa.m³/Kg.K

n is the polytropic exponent which is 1.3

Thus;

W_b = -1.5 × 0.28705(356.99 - 290)/(1 - 1.3)

W_b = 96.15 KJ

The formula for the heat transfer is given as;

Q_out = W_b - m.c_v(T2 - T1)

c_v for air = 0.718 KJ/Kg.k

Q_out = 96.15 - (1.5×0.718(356.99 - 290))

Q_out = 24 KJ

The force of gravity is much weaker than the strong nuclear force. But the strong nuclear force only acts over short distances, such as within the nuclues. The gravitational force can act over infinite distance.

A ladder rests against a vertical wall at a point 12 feet from the floor. The angle formed by the ladder and the floor is 63°. C
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

length of the ladder is 13.47 feet

base of wall to latter distance 6.10 feet

angle between ladder and the wall is 26.95°

Explanation:

given data

height h  = 12 feet

angle 63°

to find out

length of the ladder ( L) and length of wall to ladder ( A) and angle between  ladder and the wall

solution

we consider here angle between base of wall and floor is right angle

we apply here trigonometry rule that is

sin63 = h/L

put here value

L = 12 / sin63

L = 13.47

so length of the ladder is 13.47 feet

and

we can say

tan 63 = h / A

put here value

A = 12 / tan63

A = 6.10

so base of wall to latter distance 6.10 feet

and

we say here

tanθ = 6.10 / 12

θ = 26.95°

so angle between ladder and the wall is 26.95°

Given that the concentration of bovine carbonic anhydrase is 3.3 pmol ⋅ L − 1 and R max ( V max ) = 222 μmol ⋅ L − 1 ⋅ s − 1 , d
LuckyWell [14K]

Answer:

The turnover number of the enzyme molecule bovine carbonic anhydrase = 67,272,727.27 s^–1.

Explanation:

Given:

The concentration of bovine carbonic anhydrase = total enzyme concentration = Et = 3.3 pmol⋅L^–1 = 3.3 × 10^–12 mol.L^–1

The maximum rate of reaction = Rmax (Vmax) = 222 μmol⋅L^–1⋅s^–1 = 222 × 10^–6 mol.L^–1⋅s^–1

The formula for the turnover number of an enzyme (kcat, or catalytic rate constant) = Rmax ÷ Et = 222 × 10^–6 mol.L^–1⋅s^–1 ÷ 3.3 × 10^–12 mol.L^–1 = 67,272,727.27 s^–1

Therefore, the turnover number of the enzyme molecule bovine carbonic anhydrase = 67,272,727.27 s^–1

Explanation:

The object would be neutral. There are equal numbers of protons and electrons, so the positive and negative charges cancel one another.

Bose-Einstein Condensate can be defined by Group of answer choices slowly vibrating molecules all possibilities listed are corre
deff fn [24]

Answer:

The correct option is;

Absolute zero

Explanation:

A Bose-Einstein condensate is known as the fifth state of matter which is made of a collection of ultra cooled atoms (at almost absolute zero degrees -273.15 °C) such that the there is very slight free energy within the atoms which results in almost no relative motion between the atoms. The atoms then combine forming clumps such that phenomena usually observed at the microscopic level such as wavefunction interference become observable at the microscopic level.
