Equation 1)  x + 6y = 2
Equation 2)  5x + 4y = 36

Multiply all of equation 1 by 5.

1)  5(x + 6y = 2)

Simplify.

1)  5x + 30y = 10
2)  5x + 4y = 36

Subtract equations from one another.

26y = -26

Divide both sides by 26.

y = -1

Plug in -1 for y in the first equation.

x + 6y = 2

x + 6(-1) = 2

Simplify.

x - 6 = 2

Add 6 to both sides.

x = 8

D : (8, -1)

Nathan invested $18,000 in an account paying an interest rate of 3.4% compounded quarterly. Assuming no deposits or withdrawals
bezimeni [28]

Answer:

$24,412

Step-by-step explanation:

To find out the value after 9 years, we have to use Future value formula.

Here, Present Value (PV) = $18,000

Interest rate, r = 3.4% = 0.034

Since the interest is compounding quarterly, m = 4

years, n = 9

We know, FV = PV x [(1 + r/m)^(n*m)]

FV = $18,000 x [(1 + 0.034/4)^(9*4)]

FV = $18,000 x [(1 + 0.034/4)^(9*4)]

FV = $18,000 x 1.3562

FV = $24,412

Therefore, the future value is $24,412.

-4x - 28y=56 4x + 14y=-28
ddd [48]
Adding the 2 equations will eliminate x because -4x + 4x = 0
so we get
-14y = 28
y = -2
plug this into the second euqtion:-
4x + 14(-2) = -28
4x  - 28 = -28
x = 0

answer is x = 0 , y = -2

3a. Write an equation in slope-intercept form of a<br> line that passes through (2,1) and (6,-5).
eimsori [14]

Answer:

y =- 3/2x + 4

Step-by-step explanation:

(2,1) and (6,-5).\\x_1 = 2\\x_2 = 6\\y_1 =1\\y_2 =-5\\\frac{y-y_1}{x-x_1} = \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\\ \\\frac{y-1}{x-2} = \frac{-5-1}{6-2}\\\\\frac{y-1}{x-2} = \frac{-6}{4} \\Cross-Multiply\\4(y-1) = -6(x-2)\\4y-4=-6x+12\\4y =-6x+12+4\\4y = -6x+16\\Divide-  through-by ; 4\\\frac{4y = -6x+16}{4} \\\\y = -\frac{3}{2} x +4
