Answer : The correct option is, octane (C_8H_{18})

Explanation :

Covalent compound : It is a compounds in which atoms are covalently bonded. It is formed by the equal sharing of electrons. These bonds are commonly formed between two non-metals.

Ionic compound : It is a compounds in which atoms are bonded through ionic bond. It is formed by the complete transfer of electrons. The atom that looses the electron is considered as electropositive atom and the atom that gains the electron is known as electronegative atom.  These bonds are formed between one metal and one non-metal.

Organic compound : It is a hydrocarbon that contains hydrogen and carbon and the hydrogen and the carbon are covalently bonded to each other. There are two types of hydrocarbon which are saturated hydrocarbon and unsaturated hydrocarbon.

Saturated hydrocarbon : These are the compounds which containing single bonds between the carbon-carbon atoms. In saturated compounds, there are more number of hydrogen bonded with the carbon atom.

Unsaturated hydrocarbon : These are the compounds which containing double and triple bonds between the carbon-carbon atoms. In unsaturated compounds, there are less number of hydrogen bonded with the carbon atom.

From the given options, we conclude that

Ammonia (NH_3), is the covalent compound in which two non-metals (nitrogen and hydrogen) are covalently bonded.

Calcium sulfide (CaS), is the ionic compound in which calcium (metal) and sulfur (non-metal) are bonded through ionic bond.

Sulfur trioxide (SO_3), is the covalent compound in which two non-metals (sulfur and oxygen) are covalently bonded.

Octane (C_8H_{18}), is an organic compound in which hydrogen and carbon atoms are present. It is a saturated hydrocarbon.

Hence, the correct option is, octane (C_8H_{18})

Which has a higher melting point and why? LiF or Rbl?
ExtremeBDS [4]

Explanation:

To get a better understanding of the answer,let's take use of Fajan's rule which says that no bond is neither purely covalent or purely ionic.

For ionic compounds MP and BP are higher than covalent compounds. So in order to find the one with higher MP,it's enough to find the most ionic compound among the given options.

In LiF,LiCl,LiBr and LiI,The cation is same and anion only differs.According to Fajans rule Smaller anion and larger cation favours ionic bonding and vice versa. Since Fluoride is the smallest anion,LiF is the most ionic compound and hence it is the one with highest MP from the options.Hope it helps

If the heat released during condensation goes only to warming the iron block, what is the final temperature (in ∘C) of the iron
OLga [1]

Answer:

91°C

Explanation:

CHECK THE COMPLETE QUESTION BELOW;

Suppose that 0.95 g of water condenses on a 75.0 g block of iron that is initially at 22 °c. if the heat released during condensation is used only to warm the iron block, what is the final temperature (in °c) of the iron block? (assume a constant enthalpy of vaporization for water of 44.0 kj/mol.)

Heat capacity which is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of an object or a substance by one degree

From the question, it was said that that 0.95 g of water condenses on the block thenwe know that Heat evolved during condensation is equal to the heat absorbed by iron block.

Then number of moles =given mass/ molecular mass

Molecular mass of water= 18 g/mol

Given mass= 0.95 g

( 0.95 g/18 g/mol)

= 0.053 moles

Then Heat evolved during condensation = moles of water x Latent heat of vaporization

Q= heat absorbed or released

H=enthalpy of vaporization for water

n= number of moles

Q=nΔH

Q = 0.053 moles x 44.0 kJ/mol

= 2.322 Kj

=2322J

We can now calculate Heat gained by Iron block

Q = mCΔT

m = mass of substance

c = specific heat capacity

=change in temperature

m = 75 g

c = 0.450 J/g/°C

If we substitute into the above formula we have

Q= 75 x 0.450 x ΔT

2322 = 75 x 0.450 x ΔT

ΔT = 68.8°C

Since we know the difference in temperature, we can calculate the final temperature

ΔT = T2 - T1

T1= Initial temperature = 22°C

T2= final temperature

ΔT= change in temperature

T2 = T1+ ΔT

= 68.8 + 22

= 90.8 °C

=91°C

Therefore, final temperature is 91°C

Why do the carbon atoms with the double bond contain 1 less Hydrogen atoms then
Sladkaya [172]

Answer:

The double bond is shown conventionally by two lines joining the atoms. Each line represents one pair of shared electrons. Carbon dioxide, CO2 Ethene, C2H4 Ethene has a double bond between the two carbon atoms. A more sophisticated view of the bonding in ethene
