What will happen to the chemical equilibrium if NH4Cl is added to this solution?

Chemistry

The answer to this item depends entirely to the chemical reaction. If the compound, NH4Cl, is in the left hand side of the reaction, when it is added, the reaction will shift to the left. In the same manner, when the compound is in the right-hand side of the reaction, the reaction will shift to the right.

This happens because initially the reaction is in equilibrium and adding another compound to it will most likely lead to the shifting of the reaction.

Why do covalent bonds not involve the transfer of electrons
zhannawk [14.2K]
Covalent bonds do not involve electron transfer because in covalent bonds, the electrons are shared between the atoms to form the molecule rather than being transferred to form ions as it is in the case of ionic bonds.<span />

Match each item to its proper disposal method. Answers to be used more than once.
salantis [7]

Answer:

1. a)

2. a)

3. b)

4. d)

Explanation:

The disposal method is how we throw away the wastes. In a chemical lab, the correct disposal method guarantees the security of the environment and the humans and animals that may be in contact with the materials.

So:

1. Excess chemical: Because it can be toxic, it may be disposed of in the appropriate waste container, which will depend on the characteristics of the material;

2. Reaction mixture: As the excess chemical, it can be toxic, so it must be disposed of at an appropriate waste container;

3. Used filter paper: Generally, the solids in the filter paper is not toxic, so it can be thrown away in the trash can;

4. Cracked or chipped beaker: Because the beaker is made of glass, it can cut when broken, so it must go to a broken glass box, that will protect the people that will deal with it.

Beryllium oxide, Beo, is an electrical insulator. How
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

There are 10.0 moles of beryllium oxide in a 250 grams sample of the compound.

Explanation:

We can calculate the number of moles (η) of BeO as follows:

\eta = \frac{m}{M}

Where:

m: is the mass = 250 g

M: is the molar mass = 25.0116 g/mol

Hence, the number of moles is:

\eta = \frac{250 g}{25.0116 g/mol} = 10.0 moles

Therefore, there are 10.0 moles of beryllium oxide in a 250 grams sample of the compound.

I hope it helps you!
