The answer is B) region of high pressure in a medium caused by a passing wave

Compression is the forcing of the molecules of a medium, be it water, air, or something else, as a wave passes by. This forcing together of the molecules raises the pressure of the medium in the area that the wave passes through.

A swimmer bounces straight up from a diving board and falls feet first into a pool. She starts with a velocity of 4.00 m/s, and
Svetlanka [38]

Answer:

a = 1.152s

b = 0.817 m

c = 7.29m/s

Explanation: let the following

From the first equation of linear motion

V = u+at..........1

parameters be represented as :

t = Time taken

v = Final velocity

a = Acceleration due to gravity = 9.8m/s²

u = Initial velocity = 4 m/s

s = Displacement

V = 0

Substitute the values into equation 1

0 = 4-9.8(t)

-4 = -9.8t

t = 4/9.8

t = 0.408s

From : s = ut+1/2at^2.........2

S = 4×0.408+0.5(-9.8)×0.408^2

S= 1.632-4.9(0.166)

S = 1.632-0.815

S = 0.817m

Her highest height above the board is 0.817 m

Total height she would fall is 0.817+1.90 = 2.717 m

From equation 2

s = ut+1/2at^2

2.717 m = 0t+0.5(9.8)t^2

2.717 m = 0+4.9t^2

2.717 m = 4.9t^2

2.717/4.9 = t^2

0.554 =t^2

t =√0.554

t = 0.744s

Hence, her feet were in the air for 0.744+0.408seconds

= 1.152s

Also recall from equation 1

V= u+at

V = 0+9.8(0.744)

V = 7.29m/s

Hence, the velocity when she hits the water is 7.29m/s

Finally,

a = 1.152s

b = 0.817 m

c = 7.29m/s

Which is the result of mitosis and cytokinesis?
Leno4ka [110]
During cytokinesis, the cytoplasm of the cell is divided in half, and the cell membrane grows to enclose each cell, forming two separate cells as a result. The end result of mitosis and cytokinesis is two genetically identical cells where only one cell existed before.

Justin Bieber is thrown horizontally at 10.0 m/s from the top of a cliff 122.5 m high.
sveticcg [70]

===>  Distance fallen from rest in free fall =

                                         (1/2) (acceleration) (time²)

                               (122.5 m) = (1/2) (9.8 m/s²) (time²)

Divide each side by (4.9 m/s²):   (122.5 m / 4.9 m/s²)  =  time²

                                                           (122.5/4.9) s²  =  time²

Take the square root of each side:    5.0 seconds

===> (Accelerating at 9.8 m/s², he will be dropping at
                               (9.8 m/s²) x (5.0 s) = 49 m/s
when he goes 'splat'.  We'll need this number for the last part.)

===> With no air resistance, the horizontal component of velocity
doesn't change.

Horizontal distance = (10 m/s) x (5.0 s)  =  50 meters .

===>  Impact velocity =  (10 m/s horizontally) + (49 m/s vertically)

                                 = √(10² + 49²)  =  50.01 m/s  arctan(10/49)

                                 =    50.01 m/s   at  11.5° from straight down,

away from the base of the cliff.

scientific endeavor should only be pursued after known tradeoffs associated with the research have been considered. True or Fals
AfilCa [17]
This is false. There were many times in history when people discovered something that they didn't even know was possible or didn't even plan to discover it. Knowing tradeoffs doesn't mean that something won't surprise you or that all will go according to plan.
