2koh+bacl2>2kcl+Ba(OH)2 what is the net ionic.I know all hydroxides are insolubles except with group 1A ,I presumed Ba(Oh)2 i

s aqueous.so I cant come up with a net ionic equation.

Answer:

\boxed{\text{No reaction}}

Explanation:

1. "Molecular" equation

\rm 2KOH+ BaCl$_{2}$ \longrightarrow \, $ 2KCl + Ba(OH)$_{2}$

Solubility rules

  1. Salts containing Group 1 elements are soluble.
  2. Salts containing halides are generally soluble, except the halides of silver, mercury(I), and lead.
  3. All metallic hydroxides are insoluble except Group 2 from calcium down. So, BaCl₂ is soluble, and the molecular equation is

\rm 2KOH(aq)+ BaCl$_{2}$(aq) \longrightarrow \, $ 2KCl(aq) + Ba(OH)$_{2}$(aq)

2. Ionic equation

\rm 2K$^{+}$(aq) + 2OH$^{-}$(aq)+ Ba$^{2+}$(aq) + 2Cl$^{-}$(aq) \longrightarrow \, $ 2K$^{+}$(aq)+ 2Cl$^{-}$(aq) + Ba$^{2+}$(aq) + 2OH$^{-}$(aq)

3. Net ionic equation

\rm 2K$^{+}$(aq) + 2OH$^{-}$(aq)+ Ba$^{2+}$(aq) + 2Cl$^{-}$(aq) \longrightarrow \, $ 2K$^{+}$(aq)+ 2Cl$^{-}$(aq) + Ba$^{2+}$(aq) + 2OH$^{-}$(aq)

Cancel all ions that appear on both sides of the reaction arrow (in boldface).

\textbf{2K$^{+}$(aq) + 2OH$^{-}$(aq) + Ba$^{2+}$(aq) + 2Cl$^{-}$(aq)}\\\longrightarrow \,\textbf{2K$^{+}$(aq)+ 2Cl$^{-}$(aq) + Ba$^{2+}$(aq) + 2OH$^{-}$(aq)}\\\text{Everything cancels. There is no net ionic equation.}\\\text{(nothing)} \longrightarrow \, \text{(nothing)}\\\text{Answer: }\boxed{\textbf{No reaction}}

34. Explain how dimensional analysis is used to solve<br> problems.
alisha [4.7K]

Answer: By understanding conversion factors and how they are related to each other

Explanation:

Dimensional Analysis is a step by step approach to solving problems in Physics, Chemistry , and Mathematics. It involves having a clear knowledge and understanding to be able to convert a given unit to another in the same dimension using  conversion factors and knowing how they are related to each other.

For instance, In Chemistry, we want to Convert 120mL to L.(note that ml stands for millilitres and ;L stands for litres)

Or first approach will be to write out the conversion factor related to our problem which is

1000ml =1L

such that 120ml = (we cross multiply))

giving us  120ml x 1L/1000ml =0.12L

This same process is applied to convert any type of dimensional analysis problems be it physics or mathematics.

Consider two concentric spheres whose radii differ by t = 1 nm, the "thickness" of the interface. At what radius (in nm) of sphe
Gala2k [10]

Answer:

Radius of the interior sphere = 3.847 nm

Explanation:

The volume of the shell (Vs) is equal to the difference of the volume of the outer sphere (Vo) and the volume of the inner sphere (Vi). Then:

V_s=V_o-V_i=V_i\\V_o=2*V_i\\

If we express the radius of the outer sphere (ro) in function of the radius of the inner sphere (ri), we have (e being the shell thickness):

r_o=r_i+e

The first equation becomes

\frac{4 \pi}{3}*r_o^{3}  = 2 * \frac{4 \pi}{3}*r_i^{3}  \\\\\frac{4 \pi}{3}*(r_i+e)^{3}  = 2 * \frac{4 \pi}{3}*r_i^{3}  \\\\(r_i+e)^{3}  = 2 *r_i^{3}  \\\\(r_i^{3}+3r_i^{2}e+3r_ie^{2}+e^{3})=2r_i^{3}\\\\-r_i^{3}+3r_i^{2}e+3r_ie^{2}+e^{3}=0\\\\-r_i^{3}+3r_i^{2}+3r_i+1=0

To find ri that satisfies this equation we have to find the roots of the polynomial.

Numerically, it could be calculated that ri=3.847 nm satisfies the equation.

So if the radius of the interior sphere is 3.847 nm, the volume of the interior sphere is equal to the volume of the shell of 1nm.
