The phrase that describes a characteristic of an Arrhenius base is that Arrhenius base add hydroxide ions to the solution ( answer C)

      Explanation

Arrhenius base is a substance that increases the concentration of OH- in aqueous solution.

The Common Arrhenius base are group 1 and 2 hydroxide such as LiOH, NaOH , Ba(OH)2 among others.

for example NaOH dissociate as follows , NaOH → Na+(aq) + OH- (aq)

Answer: Option (C) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

According to Arrhenius, bases are the species which when dissolved in water will give hydroxide ions, that is, OH^{-}.

For example, NaOH \rightarrow Na^{+} + OH^{-}

So, NaOH is a base.

On the other hand, species which tend to dissociate in water to given hydrogen ions, that is, H^{+} ions are known as acids.

For example, HCl \rightarrow H^{+} + Cl^{-}

So, HCl is an acid.

Thus, we can conclude that the phrase adds hydroxide ions to the solution best describes a characteristic of an Arrhenius base.

What type of change forms a new
substance?
marusya05 [52]

Chemical changes cause a substance to change into an entirely substance with a new chemical formula. Chemical changes are also known as chemical reactions. The “ingredients” of a reaction are called reactants, and the end results are called products.

What are Newton's three laws of motion? Are they correct?
muminat

Answer:

Explanation:

Of course Newton's three laws of motion are correct, because they were verified several hundred of years ago and they continue working today, for such systems. Science is accumulative. What modern physics has done is to constraint the range of validity of those laws.

Newtons first law of motion states that everybody continues in it rest or of uniform motion in a straight line unless an external force is applied on it.

Newtons second law of motion states that acceleration produced on a body by a force is directly proportional to the applied force and inversely proportional to the mass of body.

Newtons third law of motion states that to every action there is equal and opposite reaction.

Hope it will be helpful :)

If the pH of the solution is 10, what is the [OH-] concentration?
swat32

Answer:

1×10^{-4}M

Explanation:

To solve this, you will need to do multiple steps.

Firstly, you will have to convert to pOH from pH, which is done by simply subtracting 14-10 to get a pOH of 4.

Then, use the following formula to calculate the [OH-} concentration:

[OH-]= 10^{-pOH}

When converted to Scientific Notation, you get a resulting answer of

1×10^{-4}M.
