Question 1
Adding an electron has no effect on the mass number but it reduces the atomic number by 1.
So, 234 91 Protactinium plus 0 negative 1 electron results to Thorium234 and
      <span>7 4 Beryllium plus 0 negative 1 electron will result to </span><span>Lithium7
</span>Adding a Helium particle increases the mass number of the daughter nuclei by 4 and the atomic number by 2.
So, <span>234 90 Thorium plus 4 2 Helium will results to </span><span>Uranium238 and
     </span>222 86 Radon plus 4 2 Helium will result to <span>Radium226.

<span>Question 2
</span>
The mass number is  the sum of protons and neutrons. If an element has y protons and x neutrons, then its mass number will be (y+x).<span>

</span>
</span><span>88 38 Strontium. This element has a mass number of 88 and atomic number(number of protons) 38. Neutrons  = 88 - 30 = 50.
Doing the same for the other elements we have;
</span>14 6 Carbon ⇒ Neutrons = 14 - 6 = 8
<span> 127 53 Iodine </span>⇒Neutrons = 127 - 53 = 74<span>
4. 39 19 Potassium </span>⇒ Neutrons = 39 - 19 = 20

In a heat engine if 1000 j of heat enters the system the piston does 500 j of work, what is the final internal energy of the sys
nydimaria [60]

Answer : The final energy of the system if the initial energy was 2000 J is, 3500 J

Solution :

(1) The equation used is,

\Delta U=q+w\\\\U_{final}-U_{initial}=q+w

where,

U_{final} = final internal energy

U_{initial} = initial internal energy

q = heat energy

w = work done

(2) The known variables are, q, w and U_{initial}

initial internal energy = U_{initial} = 2000 J

heat energy = q = 1000 J

work done = w = 500 J

(3) Now plug the numbers into the equation, we get

U_{final}-(2000J)=(1000J)+(500J)

(4) By solving the terms, we get

U_{final}-(2000J)=(1000J)+(500J)

U_{final}-(2000J)=1500J

U_{final}=2000J+1500J

U_{final}=3500J

(5) Therefore, the final energy of the system if the initial energy was 2000 J is, 3500 J

That's the cool thing about free fall.  The amount of time it takes to fall remains the same.

In this case, a ball that is simply dropped from rest will fall at the same rate as a ball that had some umph in the horizontal direction.
