An ac source of period T and maximum voltage V is connected to a single unknown ideal element that is either a resistor, and ind

uctor, or a capacitor. At time t = 0 the voltage is zero. At time t = T/4 the current in the unknown element is equal to zero, and at time t = T/2 the current is I = -Imax, where Imax is the current amplitude. What is the unknown element?

Answer:

Capacitor, is the right answer.

Explanation:

The unknown element is a Capacitor.

Below is the calculation that proves that it is a capacitor.

We know that for the Capacitor

i = Imax × sin(wt+(pi/2)).

i = Imax × sin ((2 × pi/T) × (T/4) + (pi/2))

i = Imax × sin(3.142) = 0 A

at, t = T/2

wt = (2 × pi/T) × (T/2) = pi

wt + (pi/2) = pi + (pi/2) = ( 3 × pi/2) =

i = Imax × sin(3 × pi/2) = -Imax

Which is in a correct agreement with capacitor  therefore, the answer is a Capacitor.

If two balls have the same volume,
Lena [83]

Here, we are required to find the relationship between balls of different mass(a measure of weight) and different volumes.

  • 1. Ball A will have the greater density
  • 2. Ball C and Ball D have the same density.
  • 3. Ball Q will have the greater density.
  • 4. Ball X and Y will have the same density

The density of an object is given as its mass per unit volume of the object.

Mathematically;.

  • Density = Mass/Volume.

For Case 1:

  • Va = Vb and Ma = 2Mb
  • D(b) = (Mb)/(Vb) and D(a) = 2(Mb)/Vb
  • Therefore, the density of ball A,
  • D(a) = 2D(b).
  • Therefore, ball A has the greater density.

For Case 2:

  • Vc = 3Vd,

  • Vd = (1/3)Vc

  • Md = (1/3)Mc

  • D(c) = (Mc)/(Vc) and D(d) = (1/3)Md/(1/3)Vd

  • D(c) = D(d).

  • Therefore, ball C and D have the same density

For Case 3:

  • Vp = 2Vq and Mp = Mq
  • D(p) = (Mq)/2(Vq) and D(q) = (Mq)/Vq
  • Therefore, the density of ball P is half the density of ball Q
  • Therefore, ball Q has the greater density.

For case 4:

  • Mx = (1/2)My
  • Vx = Vy

Therefore, Ball X and Ball Y have the same density.

What types of cells are likely to have lots of smooth ER?
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

eukaryotic cells

Explanation:

"Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (sER) is (a part of) endoplasmic reticulum that is tubular in form and lacks ribosomes. It is present in eukaryotic cells and is associated with lipid synthesis, carbohydrate metabolism, regulation of calcium concentration, and drug detoxification"

What is the equation describing the motion of a mass on the end of a spring which is stretched 8.8 cm from equilibrium and then
Sedbober [7]

Answer:

x=(0.088m)\cos(\sqrt{\frac{k}{m} }  t)

Explanation:

We first identify the elements of this simple harmonic motion:

The amplitude A is 8.8cm, because it's the maximum distance the mass can go away from the equilibrium point. In meters, it is equivalent to 0.088m.

The angular frequency ω can be calculated with the formula:

\omega =\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}}

Where k is the spring constant and m is the mass of the particle.

Now, since the spring starts stretched at its maximum, the appropriate function to use is the positive cosine in the equation of simple harmonic motion:

x=A\cos(\omega t)

Finally, the equation of the motion of the system is:

x=(0.088m)\cos(\omega t)

or

x=(0.088m)\cos(\sqrt{\frac{k}{m} }  t)

Please help me to do this problem
Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer:

we got time and velocity over time.

so the distance is again the area underneath the graph

for a triangle with known base and height it's

4*10 / 2

distance traveled is 20

deceleration occurs when velocity decreases. that happens from t=2 till t=4

in 2 time-units we loose 10 units of velocity, so we decelerate by 5 units per 1 time

a (from t=2 to t=4) = -5v/t
