Because energy is wasted either in the form of heat energy or something else (like friction)

Because of energy loses. Energy is lost as heat or sound etc, the system is not 100% efficient. Also as work done= force *the distance the force is applied, because of the friction force, the actual force that is applied is reduced, thus the value for the work done (change in energy) becomes less.

does the pair of equilibria produced by a saddle-node bifurcation have to consist of one that is stable and one that is unstable
Amiraneli [1.4K]

This bifurcation is called a saddle-node bifurcation. In it, a pair of hyperbolic equilibria, one stable and one unstable, coalesce at the bifurcation point, annihilate each other and disappear.

What is a bifurcation equilibria?

 • The mathematical study of changes in a family of curves' qualitative or topological structure, such as the integral curves of a family of vector fields or the solutions to a family of differential equations, is known as bifurcation theory.
 • A bifurcation happens when a tiny, gradual change in a system's parameter values (the bifurcation parameters) results in an abrupt, "qualitative," or topological change in the system's behavior.
 • This term is most frequently used to refer to the mathematical study of dynamical systems.
 • Both continuous systems (represented by ordinary, delay, or partial differential equations) and discrete systems can experience bifurcations (described by maps).

5. A 4.00 kg object slides down a frictionless inclined plane with an acceleration of 3.00 m/s2. What is the angle of the inclin
Kazeer [188]

Answer:

The angle of the incline above horizontal is 17.81 degrees.

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of the object, m = 4 kg

Acceleration of the object above the incline, a=3\ m/s^2

We need to find the angle of the incline above horizontal. The net force acting on the object along the incline is given by :

F_{net}=mg\ sin\theta

ma=mg\ sin\theta

a=g\ sin\theta

sin\theta=\dfrac{a}{g}

sin\theta=\dfrac{3}{9.8}

\theta=17.81^{\circ}

So, the angle of the incline above horizontal is 17.81 degrees. Hence, this is the required solution.

Explanation:

1. The Centauri star system consists of 3 stars and is about 4.37 light-years away from Earth. (A light-year is the distance that light travels in a year.)

2. We see the visible spectrum which consists of colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. (The visible spectrum is the range of light that our eyes can detect.)

3. Because air has a lower index of refraction than water, the light beams making up the image of the fish I see bends as it leaves the water and enters the air. (Index of refraction determines how light bends when moving from one medium into another.)

4. When I look at my reflection in the mirror, the light reflects off the mirror at an equal but opposite angle as it hits the mirror.

5. When looking into a concave mirror the center is further away from you than the outside edges. (Concave mirrors cave in.)

6. Forklift drivers are careful to look in the convex mirrors placed at blind intersections in the warehouse.

7. is transparent and the light goes through without distortion.

8. The electromagnetic spectrum refers to any or all of the possible wavelengths of "light", both the visible light and invisible light.

9. The transmission of light through a medium means it goes through it.

10. The absorption of light by a medium means it is absorbed by it.
