For any periodic wave
<span>v = f λ </span>

<span>where </span>
<span>v = velocity </span>
<span>f = frequency </span>
<span>λ = wavelength (distance between 2 successive crests) </span>

<span>This means that </span>
<span>λ = v/f </span>

<span>Assuming that v stays the same while f increases, λ must DECREASE.

I hope this helps

A ball is kicked off of a roof at 23 m/s [R 25° U]. What is the height of
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

Explanation:

Considering the fact that we ave been given an angle of inclination here, we best use it! That means that the velocity of 23 m/s is actually NOT the velocity we need; I tell my students that it is a "blanket" velocity but is not accurate in either the x or the y dimension of parabolic motion. In order to find the actual velocity in the dimension in which we are working, which is the y-dimension, we use the formula:

v_{0y}=v_0sin\theta and filling in:

v_{0y}=23sin(25) which gives us an upwards velocity of 9.7 m/s. So here's what we have to work with in its entirety:

v_{0y}=9.7m/s

a = -9.8 m/s/s

t = 2.8 seconds

Δx = ?? m

The one-dimensional motion equation that utilizes all of these variables is

Δx = v_0t+\frac{1}{2}at^2 and filling in:

Δx = 9.7(2.8)+\frac{1}{2}(-9.8)(2.8)^2 I am going to do the math according to the correct rules of significant digits, so to the left of the + sign and to 2 sig fig, we have

Δx = 27 + \frac{1}{2}(-9.8)(2.8)^2 and then to the right of the + sign and to 2 significant digits we have

Δx = 27 - 38 so

Δx = -11 meters. Now, we all know that distance is not a negative value, but what this negative number tells us is that the ball fell 11 meters BELOW the point from which it was kicked, which is the same thing as being kicked from a building that is 11 meters high.

60. The label on a box of cereal gives the mass of cereal in two units: 978 grams and 34.5 oz. Use this information to find a co
Anastaziya [24]

Answer : The mass of cereal in two units are, 34.815 oz and 978.075 grams respectively.

Explanation :

As there are two systems for measuring the units which are English and Metric system.

The Metric System measured the things in meters, grams, liters, etc and adds prefixes like kilo, milli and centi to the count orders of the magnitude.

The English system measured the things in feet, inches, pounds, mile, etc.

As we are given the mass of cereal in 978 grams that means 987 grams is in metric unit. Now we have to convert metric unit into English unit.

Conversion factor used :  (1 oz = 28.350 g)

As, 28.350 grams = 1 oz

So, 987 grams = \frac{987\text{ grams}}{28.350\text{ grams}}\times 1oz

                        =  34.815 oz

As we are given the mass of cereal in 34.5 oz that means 34.5 oz is in metric unit. Now we have to convert metric unit into English unit.

Conversion factor used :  (1 oz = 28.350 g)

As, 1 oz = 28.350 grams

So, 34.5 oz = \frac{34.5\text{ oz}}{1\text{ oz}}\times 28.350\text{ grams}

                  =  978.075 grams

Therefore, the mass of cereal in two units are, 34.815 oz and 978.075 grams respectively.

For a damped simple harmonic oscillator, the block has a mass of 1.2 kg and the spring constant is 9.8 N/m. The damping force is
ArbitrLikvidat [17]

Answer:

a) t=24s

b) number of oscillations= 11

Explanation:

In case of a damped simple harmonic oscillator the equation of motion is

m(d²x/dt²)+b(dx/dt)+kx=0

Therefore on solving the above differential equation we get,

x(t)=A₀e^{\frac{-bt}{2m}}cos(w't+\phi)=A(t)cos(w't+\phi)

where A(t)=A₀e^{\frac{-bt}{2m}}

 A₀ is the amplitude at t=0 and

w' is the angular frequency of damped SHM, which is given by,

w'=\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}-\frac{b^{2}}{4m^{2}} }

Now coming to the problem,

Given: m=1.2 kg

           k=9.8 N/m

           b=210 g/s= 0.21 kg/s

           A₀=13 cm

a) A(t)=A₀/8

⇒A₀e^{\frac{-bt}{2m}} =A₀/8

⇒e^{\frac{bt}{2m}}=8

applying logarithm on both sides

⇒\frac{bt}{2m}=ln(8)

⇒t=\frac{2m*ln(8)}{b}

substituting the values

t=\frac{2*1.2*ln(8)}{0.21}=24s(approx)

b) w'=\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}-\frac{b^{2}}{4m^{2}} }

w'=\sqrt{\frac{9.8}{1.2}-\frac{0.21^{2}}{4*1.2^{2}}}=2.86s^{-1}

T'=\frac{2\pi}{w'}, where T' is time period of damped SHM

⇒T'=\frac{2\pi}{2.86}=2.2s

let n be number of oscillations made

then, nT'=t

⇒n=\frac{24}{2.2}=11(approx)

What would be the resulting charge of carbon (C) after this element loses four electrons?
Sladkaya [172]

Answer:

Carbon will become positively charged.

The charge of Carbon will be +4.

Explanation:

The charge of Carbon will be +4.

In the periodic table, elements that give out  or lose electrons during electrochemical combinations are called electropositive elements. If carbon loses electrons during the chemical combination, Carbon will become positively charged, with a valency equal to the number of electrons that it lost.

This will make carbon have a charge of +4
