When water freezes the molecules become stronger. When the molecules become stronger they expand . The crystalline arrangement is less dense than that of the molecules in liquid form which makes the ice less dense than the liquid water.

vitfil [10]
[Co(CN)₆]³⁻ → Yellow
[Co(NH₃)₆]³⁺ → Orange
[CoF₆]³⁻ → Blue
Explanation:
- All the given compounds have octahedral geometry but the ligand in each are different with the same metal ion.

- Ligands strength order:     CN⁻ > NH₃ > F⁻

- The ligand CN will act as a strong field ligand so that the splitting is maximum when compared to NH₃ and F⁻

- If the splitting is more, the energy required for transition is more, and the wavelength is inversely proportional to energy.

- So CN complex will absorb at lower wavelength (yellow color)

Explain the similarities and differences between putting a beaker of ethanoic acid in the refrigerator and mixing it with sodium
frez [133]

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

When a beaker of ethanoic acid is placed in the refrigerator, its temperature drops and the vessel feels cool.

Now, when we mix ethanoic acid and sodium carbonate, an endothermic reaction occurs, fizzing is observed as carbon dioxide is given off and heat is lost to the surroundings causing the reaction vessel to feel cool to touch.

The difference between putting ethanoic acid in the refrigerator and adding  sodium carbonate to the solution is that, in the former, no new substance is formed. The substance remains ethanoic acid when retrieved from the refrigerator. In the later case, new substances are formed. The substance is no more ethanoic acid because a chemical reaction has taken place.

Calculate the molality of a solution formed by adding 6.30 g NH4CL to 15.7 g of water
babymother [125]

Answer:

Molality = 7.5 mol/kg

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of NH₄Cl = 6.30 g

Mass of water = 15.7 g (15.7/1000 =0.016 kg)

Molality = ?

Solution:

Formula of molality:

Molality = Moles of solute / mass of solvent in gram

Now we will first calculate the number of moles of solute( NH₄Cl )

Number of moles = mass/ molar mass

Molar mass of  NH₄Cl = 53.491 g/mol

Number of moles = 6.30 g/  53.491 g/mol

Number of moles =  0.12 mol

Now we will calculate the molality.

Molality = Moles of solute / mass of solvent in gram

Molality =  0.12 mol / 0.016 kg

Molality = 7.5 m

or        (m=mol/kg)

Molality = 7.5 mol/kg

A _____________ is formed when water empties into a lake or ocean
solong [7]

Answer:

a delta

Explanation:

he place where a river enters a lake, larger river, or the ocean is called its mouth. River mouths are places of much activity. As a river flows, it picks up sediment from the river bed, eroding banks, and debris on the water. ... When large amounts of alluvium are deposited at the mouth of a river, a delta is formed.
