Answer: The correct answer is total mass is unchanged.

Explanation:

Law of conservation of mass states that mass can neither be created nor be destroyed but it can only be transformed from one form to another form.

In a balanced chemical equation, total mass on the reactant side will always be equal to the total mass on the product side.

Every balanced chemical equation follows law of conservation of mass.

For Example: Formation of water from hydrogen and oxygen gas, the equation follows:

2H_2+O_2\rightarrow 2H_2O

Total mass on reactant side: [2(1\times 2)+(2\times 16)]=36g/mol

Total mass on product side: [2((1\times 2)+16)]=36g/mol

As, mass on both the sides of the reaction remains the same.

Hence, the correct answer is total mass is unchanged.

On a sunny day, a student poured a cup of water on the sidewalk to make a puddle. When he returned later, the puddle was gone. T
ivanzaharov [21]

Answer:

The students conclusion is wrong.

Explanation:

The students conclusion is wrong because liquids can not soak into concrete. The water evaporated because it was a hot sunny day. The water turned into a gas called water vapor.

Convert the following to relative uncertainties
a) 2.70 ± 0.05cm
b) 12.02 ± 0.08cm
DENIUS [597]

data which is expressed in form of following way

a = a_o + \Delta a

here in above expression

a_o = true value

\Delta a = uncertainty in the value

now the relative uncertainty is given as

\frac{\Delta a}{a_o}

now by above formula we can say

a) 2.70 ± 0.05cm

here

True value = 2.70

uncertainty = 0.05

Relative uncertainty = \frac{0.05}{2.70} = 0.0185

b) 12.02 ± 0.08cm

here

True value = 12.02

uncertainty = 0.08

Relative uncertainty = \frac{0.08}{12.02} = 0.00665

A small 18 kilogram canoe is floating downriver at a speed of 1 m/s. What is the canoe's kinetic energy?
In-s [12.5K]

Kinetic energy = (1/2) (mass) (speed²).

A Physicist in the canoe, or on a raft floating downriver next to the canoe, will say that the canoe's kinetic energy is zero.

A Physicist on the riverbank, watching the canoe drift by at 1 m/s, will say that its kinetic energy is 9 Joules.

They're both correct.

If the plotted points on a speed-time graph do not form a straight line, what do you know about the object's acceleration?
slega [8]
Remember, that while sped is constant, acceleration is not. Acceleration is when velicity changes. So the graph which shows the slop of a velocity vs time describes acceleration.
If we have the straight line on the graph it means that the slope is always the same whereas the non-linear graphs has a variable slope that changes depending on your point in the graph.
To conclude - if your graph is not a straight line it has variable acc at many points.
