Answer:

a) Warmer

b) Exothermic

c) -10.71 kJ

Explanation:

The reaction:

KOH(s) → KOH(aq) + 43 kJ/mol

It is an exothermic reaction since the reaction liberates 43 kJ per mol of KOH dissolved.

Hence, the dissolution of potassium hydroxide pellets to water provokes that the beaker gets warmer for being an exothermic reaction.

The enthalpy change for the dissolution of 14 g of KOH is:

n = \frac{m}{M}

<u>Where:</u>

m: is the mass of KOH = 14 g

M: is the molar mass = 56.1056 g/mol

n = \frac{m}{M} = \frac{14 g}{56.1056 g/mol} = 0.249 mol

The enthalpy change is:

\Delta H = -43 \frac{kJ}{mol}*0.249 mol = -10.71 kJ

The minus sign of 43 is because the reaction is exothermic.

I hope it helps you!

How many atoms of hydrogen (h) are present in 200 molecules of ammonia (nh3)? express your answer numerically?
natita [175]
<span>Chemical formula of ammonia = NH3 As we can see there are three atoms of hydrogen in one molecule of ammonia. So in the 200 molecule of ammonia there will be = 200*3 = 600 atoms of hydrogen. Answer - 600 atoms of hydrogen.</span>

Classify the substances according to the strongest solute-solvent interaction that will occur between the given substances and w
Solnce55 [7]

Answer: NH_3 and C_2H_5OH are hydrogen boding, AlCl_3 and FeBr_3 are ion-dipole forces.

Explanation: If the bond is formed between a metal and a non metal then it is known as ionic bond and ionic compounds have positive and negative ions and so they have ion-dipole forces. Aluminium chloride and Iron(III)bromide both are ionic as they have a bond between a metal and non metal and so both of these have ion-dipole forces.

Ammonia and ethanol both are polar molecules and we know that polar molecules have dipole-dipole forces.

A hydrogen bond could form if hydrogen is bonded with more electron negative atom(N, O or F).

In ammonia, H is bonded to N and in ethanol, H is bonded to O, so both of these molecules must have hydrogen bonding. Since hydrogen bond is stronger as compared to dipole - dipole forces, we will say that both ammonia and ethanol have hydrogen bonding.
