In the swing carousel amusement park ride, riders sit in chairs that are attached by a chain to a large rotating drum as shown i

n (Figure 1). As the carousel turns, the riders move in a large circle with the chains tilted out from the vertical. In one such carousel, the riders move in a 15-m-radius circle and take 7.9 s to complete one revolution.
What is the angle of the chains, as measured from the vertical?

Answer:\theta =44.068^{\circ}

Explanation:

Given

time taken to complete the circle=7.9 s

radius of circle(r)=15 m

velocity of rider is given by =\frac{2\pi r}{t}

v=\frac{2\pi 15}{7.9}=11.93 m/s

Let us suppose T is the tension in the chain and \thetais the angle which chain makes with vertical

Therefore T\sin \theta =\frac{mv^2}{r}-1

T\cos \theta=mg --2

Divide 1 & 2 we get

tan\theta =\frac{v^2}{rg}

tan\theta =0.968

\theta =44.068^{\circ}

I need help on ideas for a science project.. (highschool ideas)
Nana76 [90]

A research question that would complete the third question you need that are related to the first 2 questions which are:

  • “what type of masks help prevent fog on glasses when breathing?”
  • “does a mask’s material affect the level of fog on glasses as an effect of breathing?”

Would be: "Are there any available masks that could prevent fog on glasses that could be improved upon"?

This new research question would help you find out if there is an already existing mask that could be made better.

<h3>What is a Research Question?</h3>

This refers to "a question that a research project sets out to answer". and seeks to give answers to particular phenomena.

Hence, we can see that the new research question Would be: "Are there any available masks that could prevent fog on glasses that could be improved upon"?

This new research question would help you find out if there is an already existing mask that could be made better.

Scientists can use the location and depth of where a fossil is found to estimate the age of the fossil. To do this, they use
Roman55 [17]

Answer:

C the Law of Superposition

Explanation:

Basically the law of Superposition is applied in this regard. The law states that "the oldest layer is on the bottom and the youngest layer is on top".

When we find fossils at a particular depth we can relatively date a rock based on the strata we find them. A fossil in place in bottom beds will be older than the one in the topmost layer. Fossils also succeed one another in a definite pattern according to the principle of fossil and fauna succession.

Where are elements with few valence electrons found on the periodic table
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

Valence electrons are the electrons present in the outermost shell of an atom. You can easily determine the number of valence electrons an atom can have by looking at its Group in the periodic table.
